Disappinting

Very poor quality camera, and insufficient internal storage. Also has a tendency to lose connection permanently, but with no visible signs. That means you don't receive calls or texts but can't tell you've lost connection until you try to make a call, and this can only be fixed by restarting.

Overall very disappointed and still have over 6 months on my contract until I can get a replacement.

Seriously Short Of Storage And A Poor Camera.

I'm coming to the end of my 2-year contract on this Samsung Galaxy S5839i. It's a robust phone, looks good in a leather case, fits the pocket nicely, impresses anyone who doesn't really know about these things!!!

But I've found it seriously limited and limiting. Only 180mb of storage. After downloading 3 or 4 important apps, the internal memory got filled. You know: whattsapp, maps, Youtube, Google mail and search. After that a full-up message at every update.

So I got the SD card but then found you can't shunt stuff across to the card without first deleting and re-downloading. What a faff!

Then my supplier sends me 20-30 interesting apps each day, as if I had the space or the desire to download them. Not the phone's fault but annoying all the same. Also not the phone's fault, but Vodafone coverage is a problem - even from one room in the house to another.

The camera won't zoom. All you can do is click, download to an editor on the laptop and then hope the resolution will let you zoom. Usually, you can't because the resolution is so poor.

I'm looking forward to a much better replacement and probably a different provider.

Good Basic Entry Level Smartphone

As my first smartphone this seemed like a good bet as it was available free of charge on a low monthly tariff with calls, sms and data. First impressions are good, and they have the balance about right between size/weight so that it fits comfortably in your pocket while having a bright, clear screen. The touch function works OK though can be a little slow to respond sometimes. It comes with a number of apps pre-packaged and others available via google shop. Satnav is included and works a treat. Battery life is very good compared to other smartphones, lasting about a week on standby or a full day in use.

It's not all sweetness and light though. The camera has no zoom facility and seems slow to focus, making it hard to photograph moving subjects. The biggest problem is the limited onboard memory which in practice severely limits the amount of apps you can load before getting the dreaded "insufficient memory" message. All in all good VFM but rather limited in performance by today's standards.

A Great Smartphone!

I've had this phone for... only 2 weeks so far. But I tell you. I sit there playing on it and it is great. I love it.

There's so many apps for it, (As it is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread) in fact, over 100,000 apps are out there for Android devices. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who was looking for a new phone. (Unless they've just had a Sony Xperia Z or something.) :P

I've got to say though, after hearing about the video resolution, I was not at all impressed. WITH ONLY A VIDEO RECORDING OF 320X240P? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE WHEN IT'S BIG BROTHER: The Samsung Galaxy S2 HAVE 1920X1080P Resoultion??

+ Pros:

Great OS (Gingerbread 2.3, Android)

Over 100,000 apps ( E.G. Many Apps.)

Charges fully in less than 2 hours.

Good YouTube video playback.

Average Screen (320x480)

Support for up to 32 GB SD card.

- Cons:

Awful Video Resolution (320x240)

Not the best CPU (800 MHz, well sometimes you can get it with 832 MHz)

NO ADOBE FLASH. :(

Only 278 MB of RAM.

ONLY 178 MB OF HDD SPACE. WHAT IS THIS, THE 40'S?

Ok, so in a nutshell, the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 (As it's full name) Is a good enough phone. If you want to use it for Video Recording or Hardcore Gaming. This is not recommended for you. Also, If you want to play games in your browser, then, this is also not for you.

Samsung Galaxy Ace

If you are new to smartphones then make the Samsung Galaxy Ace your first one !!!!!! Great for apps, music, games, social networking, sms, mms, taking photos (the phone has a flash, which is a rarity!), videos, a great phone that has come down considerably in price. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is the poor battery life, but otherwise it is the perfect introduction to the world of smartphones.

Built For Mobility?

I had the phone just 12 days, bought from Carphone Warehouse - when this happened. The clue is in the name; it's a MOBILE phone, and naturally should be made in accordance to normal daily rigour? I'm certainly not talking about throwing it against a brick wall, but normal everyday life MOBILE usage! It's not intended to be a static item, such as a PC or a TV that sits in the corner of the room each day. MOBILES should be made to be....MOBILE!?

So, how come after it falling out of my pocket to my living room floor, of a distance of less than just one metre - should the screen shatter!? Not just a chip or a single crack, actually shatter like a you'd expect a car windscreen to break? A product sold for that price should have a little more bearing for the usage in mind and be constructed accordingly? Yes Samsung, a lovely looking sleek product built…not to last! (Bought from Carphone Warehouse -paid £75; quoted a repair bill of £90 from CW. If I attempt to fix it myself or get someone else to do it - I invalidate my warranty!)

Easy To Use - But Not Much Space For Apps

The Samsung Galaxy Ace was my first smartphone. I was so happy to be able to use apps. But unfortunately the internal memory is only 180 MB. So there is not much space for apps. You get reminded to update your apps very often, so again you lose space for new apps. And the problem is that you can't put most of the apps on an external sd-card. I get informed once a week to delete stuff because the internal memory is full. It's really a pity, the phone is great to use, but if you want to use a lot of apps, then I would not recommend buying the Samsung Galaxy Ace.

Easy To Use, Good Value.

After first buying my Samsung Galaxy Ace I experienced a few problems and the phone was unusable after only a few days. I returned it to the Vodafone shop and was given a new handset for free which I have now had for around 6 months. The phone is easy to set up and use with large icons and easy to maneuver menu screen. There are tons of applications to use and download such as facebook, tumblr and games which are easy to use and very useful. I have found that having these applications has now become a necessity in my life and I don't know how i functioned without easy access to such things! My contract does not include internet usage however the phone easily connects to WIFI which then costs me nothing and is available in most places. The camera on the Samsung Galaxy Ace is good for a phone, not perfect clarity but still perfect for quick snapshots. The memo option on the Samsung Galaxy ace is something I have found particularly useful as it enables me to make notes of shopping lists, reminders etc easily which are also easy to access. The appearance of the phone is sleek and modern which i love, it is also not too big like some of he other smartphones on the market. One problem that I have experienced with the phone is when making calls, on a number of occasions the phone has frozen on the call and not allowed me to end it which then wastes some of my minutes. However this is the only problem i have really experienced. The Samsung Galaxy Ace is quite fragile due to the large screen so it would be recommended to use a protective case as I now have a few scratches and a crack on the phone from dropping it. All in all, personally, I have found the Samsung Galaxy Ace to be an easy to use, fashionable device with few downfalls.

I also have had same experience.

However, since I uninstalled most of the apps I rarely use,

I notice an improvement in my phone.

Internal memory full message is rarely happened after that.

Maybe you could try, or upgrade your phone to new one :)

chucklebunny

try changing it to sim card rather than phone.Although I have not got this phone.( tocco lite). It works with mine.

Hope it helps.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Phone

My first smart phone - easy to use for a beginner and so many great features. Love being able to get emails, Facebook, Twitter etc on my phone and have downloaded some fantatsic apps. The only slight negative is the battery - had the phone for about a year and battery life isn't great. Overall I'm been very pleaseed with it.
