Worst Phones Ever

I had HTC oneX. For no reason phone started restrating and i wasnt able to enter boot load menu to do any resetting too. Sent it for repair to HTc and they gave me a bill of £158. My data would have been wiped anyway. Its resale value is not even £80 .

Also i have realised HTC phones are the worst, i have ever used in my life .

I had Htc sensation XL before , which gave me a lot of problems including over-heating, freezing and restarting. I sent it for repairs 2-3 times where its main borad was changed but still there was no fix. This happened within a year of purchase. Company changed it for Htc One X and after 2 years , phone has gone haywire. It restarted automatically without any reason. I never installed any ROM's or hacked or cracked any softwares on it. Everything on the phone was factory fitted and installed. I lost my important documents because of this .

!!Never buying HTC phones again !!

Great Piece Of Kit

I purchased the phone on recommendation from a friend. I'm not very up with the latest gadgets but this is a great phone and very easy to use.

The apps are great and it helps me keep up to date with my work emails, family and friends.

The battery life is great too, it lasts all day! I would recommend this product to anyone that is on the go and need to keep up with everyday life!

This Is For Htc As A Company In General

I came off an iPhone and thought let me give Android a chance so decided to go for a HTC One and I have regretted it badly, in Feb 2014 the original HTC headphone stopped working so I called the HTC office in London and was welcomed by a very abrupt 'customer service assistant', or so she calls herself and explained my situation to her, the whole way through she just kept hmming and oking and didn't sound one bit interested so I decided to tone it up a little and asked what she can do for me and was told that under the warranty I can get another one but it may take up to 6 weeks because it is coming from Japan or China. It's now week 9 and nothing has arrived, on top of that the phones headphone jack is playing up which is weird because I rarely use the jack now, I would like to get some sort of response from this company but I won't be surprised if I don't get one, HTC customer service is appalling and the product is just plastic glued together. At least Apple have a good level of service.

Great Phone, Poor Battery Life

I have to start by saying this is a class phone. Looks top notch and performs well too. Very fast, despite me having way too much stuff on it! Call quality is always clear, very rarely lose signal, the camera is decent enough, email runs well and games run well too. The only downside is the battery life - it literally runs out in a day of not much usage! Heavy usage and you'll be lucky to last 6-7 hours! However, I've found that by using an old blackberry to charge it rather than the one in the box the battery charges quicker and lasts a bit longer!

Simply The Best

The HTC One is very hard to fault, in 4/5 months of ownership its been flawless especial after its last software update.

Good points

Tough, want to see how tough it gets thrown out moving vehicle no screen cracks, dropped in water, and put on a very hot bbq and still works.I myself dropped my phone while drunk and it was fine just minor scraps. Disclaimer I wouldn't go dropping the phone though as i have seen vids where the screen cracks just as easy as any other phone, but it does seem fairly durable.

Gorgeous Screen, 468 ppi you can't see any individual pixels and unlike the samsung s4 amoled type screens the colours are very true, it also has fantastic viewing angles.

Twin front facing speakers,i can't tell you have much this adds to the phone, when turning your phone sideways, be it playing a game, video or music. It sounds good and in proper stereo not only that your hands don't cover the speakers muffling the sound, i have no idea why other phones have a one little speaker on the back or two at the bottom it makes no sense!, you will be surprised how much of a difference this makes to playing games, videos or music etc.

Amazing construction and design, Each phone takes 200 mins to be machined out of solid aluminium, then polycarbonate is injected into the seems and cut outs at high pressure to form a zero cap construction, if you turn the phone over it has two lines top and bottom seamlessly in the aluminium thats its twin antenna around the camera hole its trim is actually the antenna for the nfc! its a seriously well designed piece of kit, run your fingers over the phone its easily the most premium feeling phone to date.

Software, All i will say is sense 5 is a pleasure to use, and on a unbranded htc one it contains no bloatware and runs very smoothly and fluid, its fairly simple to use and does not contain any stupid gimmicks, at first i hated blinkfeed (which you currently can't turn off, upcoming update has the on/off for it)but ive grown to love it you can pull various news and social media feeds to your homepage. Overall like the phones build it has a very classy look film noir(ish) you could say.

Performance, New phones with the faster snapdragon 800 are just being realised but the snapdragon 600 still provides excellent performance with no slowdown or lag.

The bad (serious nitpicking)

Battery life is very average its all down to the user but i hammer my phone! and can flatten and do often the battery in 5 hours but that is extreme use. If im carefully it can last a day. But alas this is the case with all smartphones.

Camera 4 ultrapixel while shooting great pics in low light, optical stabilization etc and having great software options like the zoe feature, and many other features. The camera is only essentially 4 megapixels so its not up to the quality of many other flagship phones.

The black version is very durable but i dropped my phone while drunk and you can now see some of the white metal underneath.

Oh i hate the position of volume button its to low i often think im gonna turn the phone up when i find myself turning it down. Maybe thats just me lol....

Summery

So to sum up all i can say is i was a die hard Samsung guy from the galaxy 1 all the to the galaxy 3 and while the sg4 is also a awesome phone for sure the HTC One in my view is just that little bit more special. Read other reviews online and its not just me who will say the this is the best phone you can currently buy.

Poor Htc One

I still do not understand why everyone praises outstanding workmanship. It really nobody sees the gap between the body and glued cover both speakers? In addition inaccurately glued, so it uncomfortable cuts to the hand. After three

weeks I sold the phone with a loss and bought a rather S4 .... Although it is plastic, but there's no loophole.

Poor Manufacture, Poor Repair

Hi,

I got my htc one with ee 1st June and it has been back to repair twice now due to poor quality of manufacture.

The device has a crack which is visable at the top and bottom edge of the phone. In fact this crack is caused by the front fascia not being fitted correctly to the back of the device. Using a fingernail reveals that the front fascia overhangs at the top, and underhangs at the bottom. This causes the crack, and also the glass not fitting properly. HTC have refused to replace the device "until they have attempted repair three times".

Riduculous, as this not only wastes my time, but also theirs. My not send a good new device? Brainless.

They have had the phone more than I have since purchase, and because the problem is because of manufacturing defect I have no confidence that it is actually fixable. I anticipate sending it back again for the third and final repair attempt, when they will send out a replacement. There are others also that have had this problem also as can be found on the xda website.

It seems that a high proportion of these devices have these defects from new, and there are reports of some users having to get the phone replaced 4 times before they have a non defective One.

It took htc 1 MONTH to acknowledge the manufacturing defect after a customer "escalation", and book into repair the first time, and then about 1 week to "repair" and return. It was no better than when it was sent in. This repair cycle seems as though its going to be longer than a week. In a months time I expect to be the owner of a samsung s4. They may be plastic, but they wont be poorly manufactured experience defective from the start. As I promised htc I would spend 1/2 hour each day communicating my experiences of htc and their flaghip One until it is fixed. Lots more time to go yet communicating my issues I suspect!!

Superb Premium Android Smartphone

I bought my HTC One as a replacement for an ailing Galaxy S2. I thought I would wait until the Galaxy S4 was released, but a number of decent press reviews (eg PC Pro, and an epic Anandtech article) swayed me to the One.

The build quality of the device is excellent. The S2 was also very good, but the machined aluminium of the One is something else. The edges are more angled, so it's not quite as nice to hold as other handsets. It's also quite heavy. However, there's no flex to the phone and it feels like a quality product that is built to last.

The screen is stunning. The colours aren't as vibrant as the S2, but they look more natural. It is a full HD 1920x1080 16:9 panel, with a very high pixel density, well beyond Apple's retina.

The camera is slightly different to other high-end smartphones, as it has a low resolution of 4MP. However, the larger pixels used on the sensor mean it works much better than any other camera on a phone I've used in low light and indoors - I have only used the flash LED as a torch so far, it hasn't been required for photos. The resolution is lower but is plenty for uploads onto Facebook, and there's less noticeable image noise. The optical image stabilisation also works well.

Another highlight for me is the audio. The phone is BeatsAudio branded, which basically amounts to an EQ setting to bring out the bass, and custom sound chips. It can be turned off, but I find it works very well - the bass is punchy without distorting, and the headphone output is louder than the S2. The front-facing stereo speakers are also very good, about equivalent to some midrange portable speakers - not very loud but certainly far better than any other speakers I've heard on a phone.

The performance of the phone is excellent. With a quad core CPU AT 1.7 GHz and 2GB of RAM, it should be! The experience is very smooth, helped by the Sense interface. The "Blink Feed" aggregator on the home page is interesting, and allows you to add your social media and news feeds into a slick vertically stacked feed. However, you can only add HTC partner sites - there's no option to add RSS feeds, which is a shame.

Setup of the phone is helped along by a clever system where you select what settings and apps you want to load onto the device via a Web browser, which are then applied to the phone remotely. Another nifty feature is that the unlock button on the top of the phone is also an infrared transmitter. A preloaded app downloads your TV provider's listings, before calibrating the output for your TV and set top box. Within a few minutes I was switching channels using my phone from the integrated program guide!

Overall, the HTC One is an excellent phone. I can't say how it will compare directly with the Galaxy S4. The screen resolution is the same, and the CPU is comparable. However, I can't imagine that the build quality of the S4 will be as good as the One - and I own both the S2 and the Nexus 10 tablet, both Samsung products that have very good build quality. My impression is the One may be lost amongst the hype around the S4, which is a shame, because it is an excellent premium smartphone with some very interesting and well thought through features.
