Tube Status

Tube Status is one of those really simple iPhone applications that is also really useful. As the name suggests Tube Status is an application that lets you check the status of all London tube, DLR and overground rail services in real time.

The application is really easy to use. You open it and it displays a colour-coded list of tube and rail lines with their current status. On a good day you get lots of green ticks showing everything is ok but more often than not you get the amber exclamation mark or red cross indicating delays, suspension or line closure. For more detail you can click into an individual line to understand the cause of the problem.

Given the truly enormous amount of line closures currently taking place every weekend in London there is also an option to see planned line closures for the coming weekend which is really handy if you are making plans when you are out and about away from a computer.

No major minuses with this application. There is also a pro version you can buy which contains more information including station finders, journey planners which might be handy for some but I like the free version just fine.
