Don’t Ever Sign Up. Since The Telegraph Did A So-c
Don’t ever sign up. Since the telegraph did a so-called upgrade at the beginning of the year it has been nearly impossible to do the puzzles and crosswords because of technical problems. Three times the Telegraph has said there was an upgrade to cure it. I have now waited for over six months.

Poor App
The Telegraph App is a great way to read the telegraph. Unfortunately, the persons designing the app have made some fundamental errors. You find when you have downloaded the days edition it stays on your device until you go out of range of your own wifi network. It then may give you a few more pages but more often than not it just refuses to work. I have rung the Telegraph help desk who very kindly acknowledged the problem but told me the way to fix this is to turn off the wifi on the machine. I do not have any other app that needs this stone age remedy. for instance, I have not experienced this with the Times app.
The other annoying issue is the arrogance of the Telegraph who places an advertisement for is extra edition on a page that you can't exit out of. I had to remove the telegraph App from my device and reload it to remove this annoying advertisement. I have now had to do this three times. Should it happen a third time I will not re-install but use the Times instead. Ludicrous.
Great Content, Shame About The App
First, with newspapers you either love them or loathe them. I love the Telegraph. It has good news coverage, good features, good puzzles and good sports coverage. So, I signed up to their subscription service on their app for the digital edition. The app usability itself is great. Easy to navigate between the news stories. Obviously not as easy as flipping the pages of a real newspaper but you get far better depth of reading and article discovery than simply using their website. However, there are two real problems with the app. First, you can't view or post comments on the articles, which is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the website. The second is more serious. After having paid your subscription you'll be dogged by issues where the app refuses to recognise your subscription details and tell you to ring a freephone number. Brute force logins (i.e. logging in repeatedly with the same details several times) eventually gets the app to recognise you and log you in. However, chances are the next time you open the app it'll ask you again for login details. Poor show Telegraph. Sort this out and you'll have a great app.
