Morpheous Road Pilot

I had to return my unit for rectification of a manufacturing fault soon after purchase. The fault has now recurred.

The problem seems to be with the design of the connection terminals between the device and the synchronisation module that connects via USB to the PC. I wouldn't recommend this model until the manufacturer can guarantee that the design has been modified.

I have had my Morpheous Road Pilot GPS Speed Camera Detector for over a year now & have fitted the optional radar detector head (& a separate LRC-100 laser diffuser). The product itself I have been very pleased with, it is sensitive & accurate & allows a good range of customization of the settings. It is even a boon when in an unfamiliar area as it's GPS mapping screen allows you to retrace your route.

The GPS reception can be a little sketchy in built up areas & the radar head gets upset around hospitals & shopping centres, although this can be ironed out by reducing it's sensitivity.

It would have been useful if the radar head was speed sensitive as I am often stationary at traffic lights with a Gatso further down the road (or hospital, or shopping centre) & little box of tricks gets quite panicky about this & needs to be manually silenced.

If you have a noisy car (I have a TVR Tuscan with motorbike exhausts) then you might find that the voice alarms are not loud enough.

Finally, I must come onto the bigest disappointment about the purchase - customer services! After a year, your subscription comes to an end & when you try to update your device, it will lock out & tell you your subscription is overdue. I promptly paid this via their web-site facility & they promptly took the money, but that was all they did, my account was not re-activated. They repeatedly failed to respond to e-mails about this for weeks. Eventually I got a curt response & the account was re-activated, but a month further down the line, they have de-activated it again (& my bank account has long held testimony to the fact I have paid in full their annual subscription). Overall a very frustrating & disappointing service which doesn't do justice to what is essentially a fine product.
