I bought on Ebay-big mistake but you learn from them! I should have bought the Tom Tom GO 720 or similiar. Had already tried the Navman S35 7 Binatone 3.5" screen (cheap at $148AUD. The Navman was better (a bit faster) than the Road Angel and brand new! With warranty.

There are now better value products available. Not very user-friendly. Instruction manual poor. Many screens/options appear on display that aren't mentioned in manual at all!

The Road Angel Navigator 6000 is not a bad unit to use, would have thought road angel would offer an upgrade option by trading in the unit you have to an updated model with maybe a small charge, especially for us customer who have had different units over the years and paid subscription fees for each one. Please consider this thought - Road Angel.

The Road Angel Navigator 6000 Appeared To Be A Dec
The Road Angel Navigator 6000 appeared to be a decent sat nav initially, however, when driving to "known" locations which I knew to be quickest routes, the 6000 insisted on sending me the "taxi driver" route. The lack of UK road updates is pretty frustrating too eg the "NEW" stretch of A1 at Ferrybridge Services to Wetherby which has been open for almost 2 years yet still shows me driving through a field.
The speed camera updates, especially for speed camera vans also appear to be very dated. I know of 20 locations which were speed trap locations during roadworks from over 2 years ago yet every time I update the locations, they still exist.
Another gripe is that you can`t cancel a speed camera location when it appears on your screen. This is especially frustrating if it appears at a crucial turning point on your route as the warning almost covers the whole screen.
All in all, this has been possibly the WORST purchase I`ve made in years. Stick to Tom Tom or even the cheaper Medion sat navs, they`re much more reliable and can offer TRUE navigation on CURRENT UK roads.

I Chose The Road Angel Navigator 6000 Because Of T
I chose the Road Angel Navigator 6000 because of the speed camera locations after getting 3 points from one of the things. If you were to use this purely for this purpose it is very good, bat as a sat nav, it is not. It has many peculiar irregularities.
It tries to make you do illegal U-Turns on dual carriageways.
I have had some very interesting journeys down farm tracks.
It seems to think that some roundabouts should be driven anti-clockwise.
It misses T-Junctions. This is alright if you know the road, but if your were to follow it blindly, you could pull out into a junction without knowing. The same works in reverse of the same route; you need to turn left but it says nothing.
You are driving down a straight road and it will turn you to turn left to carry on along the road you are on.
It tells you to get off the motorway only to then rejoin at the same junction.
If you deviate off the route it tells you, it will make you do a huge detour to get back to where it wants you, adding at times 30 mins onto a journey which takes 20 mins from start to finish, instead of just recalculating the new most direct route.
When driving down a motorway, if you pass over a road with a speed camera, it will give you a warning and display the speed you should be going (I was once driving behind someone else who had an RA Nav 6000 when this happened to them. They went from 80mph to 30mph very quickly and almost caused a huge accident on the M6).
Tiff Needles voice can be very annoying......
Overall, I wish I had never got this and chosen a Tom Tom instead and paid for the camera upgrade. I still use mine on a daily basis for the journey I do every single day in the hope that one day it will learn that my route is best. And it is useful when you don't know where you are.

After 13 months the Road Angel Navigator became very very slow to use. It ceased to be charged from the in car cable and once the internal battery had run down the unit was swithched on and off as the car ignition was turned on and off. Eventually the unit cleared all the bookmarks stored on its own! The technical help I received was a suggestion to charge the thing using the mains charger (which I was having to do anyway) and for the other problems return the unit for repair at a cost of £55. Hence I have relegated my Road Angel 6000 to the Wheely bin and am in the process of purchsing an RAC unit. My mistake was obviously buying the Road Angel in the first place!
