I Used My Magellan 4010 With The Shipped Software

I used my Magellan 4010 with the shipped software for just 3 journeys before finding out its useless, spoke to Magellan support about firmware and map updates only for them to try and sell me another of there products. This was the final straw so I conveniently wiped my 4010 and loaded on iGO8 with up to date maps, POI and speedcamera database, now its so up to date that it now shows they have removed all the average cams on the new M1 widening works.

Bought The Magellan Maestro 4010 As A "top Of The

Bought the Magellan Maestro 4010 as a "Top of the range" sat nav after being tempted by it's array of clever features and gimmicks.

It starts off on a low straight away as you only get a car charger and it isn't precharged. So you've got to a)Drive your car for 2 hours or b)Drain your battery, just to get it started!

And when you do you wish you hadn't have bothered. Even though it has the whole of Europe clogging up it's memory card, you can only unlock one! And for any further ONE you wish to "unlock", it's £50! Even POIs need to be unlocked for a fee!

It's big screen is great, but the awkward design makes it look like a reject portable games console from the 90s.

The Bluetooth connection is easily made and works really well, very clear at both ends. Shame that despite claiming to be able to read your texts, it only has the settings for very limited phone models, so I couldn't make use of this feature.

When you finally do get round to the driving, instead of "turn right", it's "prepare to turn right", which gets a bit annoying, and unlike other sat navs, it only tells you once before the turning.

I really don't recommend this one, stick with TomTom or Garmin.
