Garmin's Quest 2, Successor To The Popular Garmin
Garmin's Quest 2, successor to the popular Garmin Quest, looks identical to its predecessor: It has a 256 colour (2.2 in. x 1.5 in. ) screen and weighs just 5.5 oz. Measuring 4.5 € W x 2.2 € H x 0.9 € D, the Garmin Quest 2 is eminently portable too.The 12 Channel, flip-up,WASS (wide area augmentation system) enabled GPS receiver is accurate to quoted 9 feet and Garmin have even given the Quest 2 preloaded MapSource City Select v8 maps covering all of Western Europe, so it's ready to go straight from the box.The City Select v8 maps are the most up-to-date available (at time of writing) including nearly six million points of interest like petrol stations, cash points, hotels, restaurants, etc. The Garmin Quest 2 will also accept optional MapSource cartography like Recreational Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots, and BlueChart making it a viable solution to many GPS related situations. As an added benefit, Garmin have now enabled the import of customised Points Of Interest; this is done with the help of Garmin's free POI Loader software; so you can now download the Pocket GPS speed camera database and speed zones, and have your Quest give a warning tone if you are traveling too fast or if a camera is in the near proximity. The Garmin Quest 2 has all the usual GPS features: Auto route calculation, re-calculate if off route, turn by turn directions and voice navigation prompts.Power input from a vehicle can be either 12V or 24V, so it's ideal for cars or trucks and the built in lithium ion battery allows the unit to be carried for use as a walking aid. Battery life is a quoted 20 hours too, so you should be ok for some pretty long walks! The Quest 2 is touted by Garmin as ideal for outdoor use thanks to it's IPX7 Waterproof Standard too, so you needn't worry about it getting wet in sudden downpour. The general usability of the Garmin Quest 2 is also good. Garmin have long been leaders in usability for most consumers and the Quest 2 is no exception.Well worth a look.
