Clever Piece Of Kit
Had this for a while and results are great. Only problem is the intructions are not clear and what goes where can be daunting to start. A bit of trial and error and once set up never needs changed again.
Would recommend this and reading other reviews, it does even more than I knew - off to experiment with laptop harddrive.

Vice 1000 Video Stabilizer
VICE 1000 VIDEO STABILIZER
Moving VHS video tapes from VCR player through VICE 1000 to hard-drive recorder very straight forward.
Moving DVD discs from Playstation 2 through VICE 1000 to hard-drive recorder also very straight forward.
The VICE 1000 needed an additional power feed/source to boost terminal eight when transferring DVD's.
Adapter for extra power employed to have an input of 240volt AC with the output of 9volt DC (+ positive) 500Mamp 2.5m/m female jack-plug, which fit's into Vice 1000 scart plug head.Recommended power 200-500Mamps output.
When transfering DVDs, transfer is limited to the film and any subtitles, with no apparent facility to have an interaction with the finished transferred DVD.
No degraded vision and sound, was obvious.
I needed extra scart leads to tailor my various set-ups, but bought cheap ones, which worked fine.
If recording where a scene goes completely white, like in 'ICE AGE' or 'THE SIXTH SENSE' on VHS or DVD, interference becomes visible at top of screen, until the next non-white scene.
Recording is still completed, but with this added interference.
Interference resembles a stretched bar-code.

Problem encountered with VICE 1000 increasing as to failed VHS and DVD transfer/recordings.
KTVision said my unit is slightly out of tolerance is the fault/cause, and have offered to help by checking my unit/sending replacement.
Until repeated breaks in recordings recently occured, no problem 100% whether DVD or VHS in transfer/recording.
I have reduced my video collection dramatically to DVD and the space the VHS tapes took, has to be seen to be believed.
Shall endeavour to get another VICE 1000 as a spare, as a precaution,to any further delays in my quest.LOL

Have come across one video film where initial transfer of video to hard-drive is accepted through VICE 1000 unit, only to find twenty minutes into video 'Copy protection' message appears and recording is automatically stopped.
This is a first, will try to get a second video to elimate faulty video tape.?? 24/08/2009

VICE 1000 is a brilliant product easy plug and play.
The only regret I have is that I did not shop around and got ripped off by KTVISION.co.uk who charged me £40. when it is £30. elsewhere,
Be aware.
Cheers

Space Saving, Does What It Says On The Tin, Great
Space saving, does what it says on the tin, great picture quality easy to use. Needed to source power supply as virgin media cable box does not supply power to unit from scart plug I was expecting this however, arrived in a jiffy bag thought it would come in a glossy box price good now only £29.90 gbp
Worth the money I paid still exploring all its uses.
I agree with this review because...they are right on the button

I Am No Expert When It Comes To Electronics, But I
I am no expert when it comes to electronics, but I wanted to be able to transfer all my old VHS tapes to DVD, and keep up with the times and formats. I knew that my DVD's would be safer and last longer than a VHS tape, which is very easy to damage. And it doesn't seem that one will be able to get VCR's for much longer to view their VHS tapes. I also wanted to be able to record my favourite Sky programs onto DVD, which was not happening beforehand.
I bought my Vice 1000 from sonel.com. I was a bit worried about buying from Sonel as they do not have any information on their site such as delivery details, phone number, terms etc. They do provide a contact email address though. I contacted them instantly after my purchase to ask when I should expect delivery, but there was no answer. That didn't fill me with much confidence. The Vice 1000 arrived 4 days later, and I was very pleased to see it!
Unfortunately Sonel did not (and it does state this on their website) supply a DC power adapter along with the Vice 1000, so I had to go out and purchase a DC adapter. That added to the price of £39.99 which I had already paid. For start, I find £39.99 for a small plastic box extreme, added on top of that the £6-odd that I paid for the DC power adapter.
Nonetheless, however much I paid, the outcome of what the product delivers is outstanding. Thus making all of my worries and stresses worth it. I am even able to record my Sky onto DVD with no picture interference whatsoever.
I am very pleased with the Vice 1000 and would definitely recommend it to anyone considering it. Previously I had tried the HQ Copy Decoder which worked to a point, but was utterly disappointing with the shaky picture. Needles to say, I sent that back, and opted for the Vice 1000 instead, and I am totally glad I did so.
I found this review very helpful because...having to buy a power adapter for that extra power needed, for transfer.
Only problem was finding the exact adapter details was a mystery ??
The members reviews didn't state what adapter output was required, after much searching on internet I found the partial answer.
230/240 Volt AC input with 12 Volt 500 Mamp output with a 2.5mm male jack plug.
Having awaiting delivery of both power unit and Vice 1000 will prove I have the correct adapter.
Will tweet review with update, once up and running.
I found this review helpful because... I've been getting mixed results from the video transfer devices I've tried, and it's encouraging to hear from someone who's had good results.

The Vice 1000 Video Capture Unit Is A Nicely Built
The Vice 1000 video capture unit is a nicely built little unit, and it is certainly good value for money. Picture quality is excellent - certainly as good as the MacroMaster and MacroBuster products I have tried, possibly slightly better on some sources due to the RGB fully wired SCART.
Instructions are a bit vague; I connected it the wrong way round and only got sound (no picture) but a quick call to www.hit-it.co.uk (where I bought it) tech support got me sorted out and working in no time.
Well worth the investment in my opinion.

The Vice 1000 (video Image Caption Encoder) Uses T
The VICE 1000 (Video Image Caption Encoder) uses the latest analogue and digital technology to allow caption information to be incorporated into the vertical blanking interval of a video signal. The VBI is approximately 3.2% of the picture area , signals added to the VBI such as Time Coding ,Closed Caption, Teletext and other signals from DVD / VHS Media which are not visible to the viewer. The VICE 1000 can be powered from pin 8 of a standard 21 pin scart connection or alternatively from an external low voltage DC jack . SVHS and RCA connections are available facilitating a flexible connections system to and from CCTV, DVD , DVDR , VCR, VHS, Set Top Boxes, Games Consuls , Plasma and Projection TV's , Digital Cameras, Home Video and Animation equipment. The VICE 1000 can add an internally generated VITC (Vertical Interval Time Code)signal for image tracking and identification of the video stream or alternatively encode into the VBI caption data.
This unit with the aid of Realtime software allowed me to add my own caption information from my pc direct on to my panasonic DVD recorder via the VICE1000. My presentation looked very professional and at the fraction of the cost which I priced at $700. I am using the VICE1000 on a new project to which the result should be, I'm able to add the generated code to the VBI (Vertical Blanking Interval) and using software allow me to stream various frames of video vai there digital number together in series for a music video for the arts department BBC.
Q&A
Will this remove macro vision encoding?
