You Can't Say You Don't Like It Until You've Tried
You can't say you don't like it until you've tried it... if you are new to digital photography, confused with the overweight big, expensive program you got, then Picasa is the answer!
There are helpful tutorials if you search Google Picasa tutorial, but go for version 3.

Picasa Is A Free Download That Allows You To Brows
Picasa is a free download that allows you to browse, and edit your photos to a degree.
It can remove red-eye.
Organise photographs including renaming, and deleting.
Resize photographs.
Make slide shows.
Make photo discs.
Email photographs to people from within Picasa.
Upload to the internet.
Rate your photographs.
Apply effects to your photographs.
And many other tasks.
It's not a replacement for more expensive photo software, but it does a very good job of the tasks it does.
Just for the browsing its well worth the download, like me when I downloaded Picasa for the first time you'll probably discover photographs you didn't realise you still had.
