Spybot Search and Destroy

My PC nearly got done by ransom ware, but with your software Spybot Search and destroy + AV 2.4 worst has been prevented and my PC is still working and no files have been affected. Thanks a lot of a really happy customer.

I scanned my system with my antivirus, no results.

I started Spyware updated and scanned my system.

Removed all the bad ones

Immunised my files

Restarted in Safe mode with networking

Done it again as above

All is healthy and we are happy.

What a lucky escape we had.

other products...nothing really worked, but Spybot totally cleared out

I've used Spybot S&D for 10 to 12 years, and persuaded my computer literate sons to do the same. I would rate it at 9.9 out of 10.

It is easy to use and capable of finding a wide variety of malware. While NEARLY perfect, I once found that it wasn't designed (at the time) to find and destroy rootkit malware, which required that I use a competitive anti-malware software. At that time, a rootkit had infected my main computer and causing me grief until it was eradicated.

I believe this deficiency was later rectified, and Spybot S&D now detects and destroys rootkits, but, to be on the safe side, I now have TWO anti-malware software programs operational on my computers, and check one against the other from time to time. I suspect that a random malware might escape detection by one product, or be detected a day or two sooner by a competitive product.

Spybot S&D remains my first line of protection against malware.

I have had McAfee for years and kept it updated constantly. McAfee kept letting virus's through. I have used Spybot S&D the free download and it has always saved the day so when I decided for another Anti-Virus I purchased the Pro edition of Spybot Anti-Virus. Am glad I did. It found things McAfee let in. My computer now runs much better than when it was new. I highly recommend this software.
