Don't Take Hp's Claim For 24 Page/min And 10 Secon
Don't take HP's claim for 24 page/min and 10 seconds for the first page too seriously, but the LaserJet 2300DN is a small office printer geared to heavy desktop usage (HP say 50,000 pages month)
It's very easy to set up, either linked to PC or a router - all the setup software is supplied or can easily be downloaded.
The printer took a long time to identify its IP address but got there. The setup software was needed to create the port on the PC (and the other PCs on the network).
The printer was immediately detected by WinXP via the parallel port, and asked for the driver to be installed.
Note that the network port takes precedence over the the parallel or USB port connection.
For duplexing, before you print, you need select the 'Print on both sides' option in the Printer Settings. This can be set as a permanent default via Control Panel -> Printing Preferences..The paper comes halfway out of the output slot, then reverses for printing the second side in a process that takes more than twice as long as printing on one side.
Cost of £450 may seem high, when a colour laser can be bought for less, but this a robust well-featured printer is for high volume B&W output.
Cartridges (Q2610A) are about £65 and should do 6,000 copies, if the cartridge is given a good shake when the low toner warning appears.
