As Long As You Are Not Going To Store Masses Of Di

As long as you are not going to store masses of digital photos a Seagate Momentus 40Gb HDD is fine. Upgrading the battery increased the battery life to 2.5 hours fully charged, though if used intensively to load programs this soon reduced to an hour or so.

Overall not a bad laptop.

When I first opened the Packard Bell Easynote K5, I was surprised by the weight. Very heavy. This laptop is definitely to be used as a desktop replacement. I would not recommend it as a mobile computer, if you are to be carrying this to work and back every day then you better be strong!

The actual build of the laptop is not very nice either... a lot of flimsy plastic to be honest. It appears that a single drop will smash the laptop, but as I said this laptop is an ideal desktop replacement. Pressing the back of the screen shows ripple on the LCD also, showing that the back of the screen is not every strong.

The performance in Windows is pretty good. Actual installing apps and general running of every day tasks (e.g. Office) is fast, and more that fast enough to run a business from. If you want to do a lot of tasks at once such as Office, Photoshop and the internet then this machine will more than cope with it.

Gaming. A no go. Even though this laptop boasts a Geforce card, it is of VERY poor performance. Running Doom 3 on low graphics it trundled on at 2-3 frames per second. A desktop machine with the same specs would run the game at around 20 fps. Please do not purchase this machine if intended as a gaming machine.

Battery life started off bad then got worse. When I first got it up and running I would have struggled to get an hour out of it. 8 months on it's something like 40 mins before the warnings come on. But if intended as a desktop replacement then the laptop will be powered anyways.

Overall this machine is a good replacement for a bulky desktop machine. Great for work and general Windows tasks, terrible for games though... and not to be used on the move.
