Fujitsu Siemens Amilo PI2515

The laptop appeared a good buy with a nice bright screen, but after only 20 months it has completely died and I didn't even use it much. Reading reports online I believe the motherboard has gone after overheating. I tried emailing support, saying it was less than 2 years old. They replied to say it was out of warranty and probably a hardware failure, and to use a 60p a minute phone support line. I think I have to write it off. Looking at ebay at the number of amilo laptops being sold 'not working' for spare parts, I would worry about buying one again.

This is my first laptop and I couldn't live with out it. We have lots of computers in our house and 3 other laptops but everyone use mine as it's got a good screen and easy to use. I use it for day-to-day use and the battery life is good but I have a problem as the cable as it got cut and im not sure where I can get it replaced?

I got the Amilo PI2515 as an xmas present and I must say that it isn't really good.

The Windows Vista software doesn't run well on the laptop and often it crashes. I have reinstalled Vista many times, but to no avail.

I feel the design of the laptop is poor and the laptop heats up fast and doesn't have any venting spaces. I find the mouse touchpad is bad and always pushes the mouse somewhere else (even though I'm not touching the touchpad)

I have had this laptop for about 4 or 5 months - paid £340 so really I wasn't expecting too much! But its exceeded all my expectations! Its really really fast! Don't have any problems running programs! Transferring things to USB drives/External hard drives- (You can also use these for extra RAM which is good- not that you really need it) No freezing- don't know a lot about computers really- but I know this one is excellent- I just use it for watching movies/listening to music, doing uni work and surfing the net- so not heavy use- but its seriously amazing what you get for how much you pay!

VFM. Great spec. The support line gets answered.

If you want a laptop for basic tasks that will run Vista HP with no probs then this is an incredible bargain. It does everything except play the latest games.

I paid 399 - why have I always spent three times that in the past?
