Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Li 1818

got an li1818 for my Dad in 2008, It ended up back with me when my dad upgraded.

7 years later after heavy use, the screen hinges are all busted so the lid cannot stay open by itself, but when I turn on the power she boots up perfectly and she's been running Windows 7 ultimate for the last 3 years.

Real tough laptop.

I purchased an Amilo Li1818 just over 3 years ago. Thirteen months later it became totally unusable, the mother board was dead, and I was advised by a reputable company locally that it would cost more to repair than replace new. I contacted the retailer, Nice pc. They said as it was out of guarantee - by one month - they would not do anything. Contacted Fujitsu. On their site was a list of Amilo laptops which had been proved to have an identical problem to mine. The Li1818 was not listed. The listed ones were replaced or repaired free. They refused any help as it was one month out of guarantee, and that model not listed. I wrote to the CEO. Same result. They just told me to phone their out of guarantee help line - a premium number. There was no point. So I am over £400 down and using an old desktop computer which is all I could afford. Because of illness and bereavement, all this was 3 years after purchase, but I know I can take action within 6 years. I have health issues, and it is all so exhausting. Next stop Trading Standards.

I'm having to consider a new machine, only 15 months after paying £700, as this thing is a complete pain in the ass.

Good screen characteristics, Better and loud sound quality without voice distortions when fully raised volume, Nice and soft finished keyboard easy to use, Nice sensitive cursor pad system also with page scrolling control.

I think it's a price worthy product but not really suitable for the gamers or frequent travellers in my opinion therefore I well recommend Fujitsu Siemens laptops.

I bought from PC World which means that Fujitsu Siemens do not deal with problems if you phone the helpline.
