Fujitsu Siemens Amilo 1845

I bought this 2 year old Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO Li 1818 (Vista Home Premium 32bit) second hand of a friend but my opinion is.

Great size 17" screen.

As previously mensioned it can overheat and shut down. It does have a seperate manual fan switch (if you remember to turn it on). Run Speccy and that will show internal temperatures.

As previously mensioned the battery life is very poor, 15 minutes when they claim 2hrs depending on usage. I've read loads of report on the battery life and they all say the same.

The Fujitsu Siemens Amilo unit overheats to at least 50 C when in intensive use, it has a noisy fan. When running under Windows XP was very prone to crashing with blue screen. From day 1 laptop suffered with shaky picture on starting up, eventually settling down. Cracks have appeared in casing and power cable needing replacing after falling apart.

Would not recommend.

From day 1 using the Fujitsu Siemens Amilo 1845 the usb wasn't corresponding and i had to pay to fix it.

I had only 20 days when it broke down.

When i took it back , there were at least other 5 people with the same problem.

It has been 15 days and they still haven't fixed it.

Very very bad choice.

Today when you buy computer or laptop very important service and no maker. Fujitsu-Siemens service unhelpful!

DELL, provide best service today (Next day) and good price.

Never buy this Fujitsu Siemens Amilo 1845!!!

It heats upto 60 degrees and above. It crashes (even when it is cold) for unknown reasons. The HDD failed once.

At first this Fujitsu Siemens Amilo 1845 laptop was a dream, I have already got a 3.0 gig desktop that is great and I wanted something as good that I could take around with me. It worked well, playing dvds, using it for abode elements photo editing (included) and taking it to college. The first point is that it doesn't fit into a standard 15" laptop bag. The processor and hard drive area gets VERY hot while in any sort of intensive use (I recommend getting a cooler to avoid your bits getting fried), as well you can't use it on your lap properly because the fan inlets are on the bottom where your legs would go. I accidentally broke the pcmia slot eject button (which sticks out about half an inch when not in) when putting it in the bag I had for it and all was well apart from some swearing, unfortunately the laptop slowly died the cd/dvd drive started to only read SOME DVDs and no cds, it kept on turning off spontaneousely and not turn on again unless I left it for a couple of days. So I phoned up Fujitsu Siemens and they had it collected, apparantely the tiny piece of broken plastc constituted improper use and the motherboard had to be replaced which cost me £250, I had no other option, it was sent back a few days later with a new motherboard, they also replaced the CD Drive which they didn't mention (don't know why that would be faulty). All is well now, I don't take it out of the house any more I might as well have got a desktop.

In conclusion don't get this laptop if you want to use it anywhere but a desk, the laptop gets to hot for comfortable use without a cooler and can't be used on your lap! The power supply also bakes.

I measured it at 52 degrees, whatever thing it is put on this can't be good for it and must be loosing me a lot of electricity ...get a desktop although its great when your far away from it and at home - for neary £1000 you could get better though.

Overall Fujitsu Siemens Amilo 1845 is a good laptop, but would recommend more for use as main pc in the home to save space rather than for true portability as overheating issue really limits environment it can be used in. Battery life not great either.
