Dell Inspiron TM 1501

Dell Inspiron 1501, screen goes black after 3-5 min on AC power (with or without the batter installed). Works OK on battery power. Reloaded the Video driver (9.2) that eliminated an ati2mtag 12c return failed error, but it did not solve the black screen after 3-5 minutes. Possible causes, AC adapter is overdriving the computer, the "bright screen" mode of AC power is somehow causing the problem. There are no system errors reported. As an aside, when the screen fails, a compatable external monitor with the same settings (1024 X 768) can be used and works fine when toggled with Fn F8

It was the most irritating piece of junk I have ever had the unfortune to encounter. i got so cross with after a year and a half that I put a nail through it.

So to conclude, it was the most annoying, poitless, waist of space laptop I have ever used.
