Advent Verona

This is a refurbished Advent Verona from PC World.

The keyboard is practically useless, if you don't hit the keys dead centre you miss letters. The mouse buttons have to be pressed at the far left and right ends. Now the left mouse button jams and I have to tap the case to move what feels like a piece of plastic moving inside under the button. The volume control has to be swiped about 30 times before it reacts. Very poor build quality.

I bought the Advent Verona laptop because it was extremely lightweight and had no cd rom so less power consumption used on the battery. Well it's the battery that was the biggest let down, only 3.5 hours tops is what I get using the laptop on battery power browsing the internet!! This is supposed to be fitted with a low power consumption processor!

My other gripe is overall quality of the casing and screen. The laptop feels cheap and 'plasticy' and I was disappointed when only after 2 months the keys on the keypad started to come loose. About another 3 months later the screen started to do funny things when I switched it on, it would have a thick white line down the middle of the screen which would appear randomly.

All in all I don't think I'll ever buy an Advent product again and will stick to my tried,trusted and reliable brands like Toshiba and Dell when it comes to buying a low cost quality laptop.
