Advent 7081

ABSOLOUTELY FLAMING USELESS! NO OTHER WORDS TO DESCRIBE THIS POINTLESS EXAMPLE OF A RUBBISH LAPTOP!

Just sold this for £100 privately and could have got more. A good laptop for school or college students. I've had it for 2 years - used every day without any problems whatsoever, but it does get bogged down when running Outllook, playing DVDs and scanning with Norton all at the same time - but what would you expect?

I've now bought another Advent with more RAM and faster processor and expect it to work as hard as this 7081.

I've had mine for a couple of years and I've had endless problems with it screwing up the Windows installation, losing the MBR, random restarts, random blue screens, etc. Plus the battery life is pretty shot.

I've had to reinstall windows on this laptop more times than I can count on my fingers. In fact, it crashed whilst I was trying to write this comment so...

It's not a bad laptop for the price or size, it just seems hideously unstable and by now I'm fed up of the regular trips upstairs to root around for the Windows disk and having to reinstall all my software. I wouldn't buy another one, replacing it with a nice MacBook Pro soon.

Buy something different apart from a Medion!

It has got system recovery which is very good, for me the only bad point is when it crashes which can happen with any laptop.

This Advent laptop is easy to use and work not much problems with mine its ace!

I got the Advent 7081 of these 2 years ago and it is still working awesome. It runs NFS-Most wanted at full detail @ 1024x728 (panels native resolution) but I've been through 3 installs of windows. It seems the standard Advent doctored version is flaky and unstable.

Cheap! But would never buy an Advent Laptop again!

Worth the £400 I paid for it at the time but there are much better machines out there that aren't much better value for money. A few of my friends own this and are constantly complaining about screen flicker, which I occasionally experience but it doesn't hinder the overall experience. Worth buying if you want an economy piece of hardware for general use. Nothing too "heavy" can be run on it, and why would you want to on a laptop?

The ADVENT 7081 is a good laptop, with fast drivers and it's easy to use. It does, however, come with an obsolete Graphics Card, so I wouldn't get this unless you can afford to buy a GeForce card. Additionally, it's difficult to see the screen without the laptop being plugged into the mains, unless you're in a dark room. The battery life could be better.

For what you get, the 7081 is great value for money though, and I recommend it for students.
