Acer Aspire 5633 WLMi

At the time of buying the acer aspire laptop it was well priced for it's spec. The screen is a crystal brite screen by Acer it looks well. The battery was great at the start but with any battery it has disintegrated over the two or so years I have had the laptop. The particular one I got was a Centrino Core 2 Duo 1.66GHz running on XP MCE. It was really quick especially when considering it only had 512MB Ram. Nothing hardware wise has went wrong on the PC as of yet, only the webcam gave trouble at one stage saying it wasn't connected when I wasn't even trying to use it but it stopped doing that again and I have since used the webacam. It's efficent and runs things like PhotoDraw and Adobe Dreamweaver well, I added 1G Ram when using PhotoDraw to help it along and made the best out of the PC later on by putting 4G in when I had been using DreamWeaver and everything ran great. Between times I formatted the machine to change the HDD format to NTFS, for some reason it was only FAT32 and at that time it was bluescreening but the hard ware was checked out ok and I thought I had got a virus, so the laptop has never been at fault. When formatting the machine I kept the Acer software of and that made a huge difference in the speed of the laptop. The laptop is easy to use and XP is still the best OS for me which made it easy too. Only one word of warning when buying any Acer product I have had problems with Acer warranty, not with this laptop but because I work in a local PC shop and in my part of the country the repair centre sucks if you want to get your laptop fixed under Acer warranty, try and get it sent back to the main centre in England, I think it's in Plymouth. You will get it back just as quickly too in my experience.

Acer Aspire 5633 WLMi. Good general purpose laptop. Never used for gaming but all other tasks ran just fine. Survived not one but 2 major spillages alas got fried on the 3rd!

Laptop was happily reformatted (10GB for XP MC on C:) releasing the HD recovery space. XP MC was installed again using the recovery disks (the user must create these first).

A sturdy, reliable and robust product. ACER is certainly a good brand in my opinion.

My Aspire 5633 has a great graphics card (NVidia GEForce Go 7300 with 512 MB) and everything works very well after 2 years. The fan died exactly after 1 year but with the extended guarantee (valid across Europe) I had it replaced within a week and did not even pay for postage (collected by UPS, prepaid by Acer).a bit slow to boot, but I've read elsewhere that this could be solved by getting rid of the empowering technology stuff.

I am very happy with this laptop and would definitely recommend it, if still on the market. Excellent for dvds and also good for games.

I cannot find any evidence that it has bluetooth even though it is supposed to.

I cannot work more than 1 hour and a half because.. the battery needs to be charged.

When I reinstalled windows because I was sick of vista and I wanted xp, I had to reinstall every driver starting with audio drivers and finishing with wireless card. And surprise, I could not download the drivers from acer's website because...when I clicked the downloads column it said the page cannot be displayed.

My Acer Aspire Laptop graphics card, the nVidia is not working, webcam problem too... No information with the Acer laptop, where I can find nvidia installation or webcam drivers. Apart from this I recommend this laptop!

This Acer Aspire laptop is well worth the money! Its built in a way that loads almost everything very fast! Infact, the only negative point I can think of is the battery life which is a negative point about almost every laptop. Recommend this Acer Laptop!

Getting rid on eBay, after a weeks use. Got a Toshiba type and in my opinion its loads better and cheaper, not yet had any problems. Dont recommend the Acer Aspire Laptop.

Excellent computer, has a good RAM and very quick.

My partner, who is an IT expert, recently bought a higher spec laptop, the far more expensive Acer Aspire 5920, partly because he had been impressed with the performance of my Aspire 5633WLMi. However he has had many problems, especially with the Vista OS, so he had been looking at reviews of that to help with his problems. Out of a certain amount of competitiveness, I decided to check any reviews of my model but lo and behold there wasn't one which is why I'm writing this. I have to think there would surely be lots of reviews if people had been having any real problems, which just makes me feel even happier with my purchase.

-The Intel Core 2 Duo processor is super quick and never overheats with the efficient and never over used cooling fan.

-The programs it comes installed with are super handy as well. For instance it comes with Acer eSecurity which allows the user to lock any program or file to outsiders. The other programs include: DVD making equipment, battery managing and program organising equipment, 3 different DVD playing programs and Movie making equipment along with live update technology and on most packages a 60 day Norton Antivirus software pack.

-The camera, microphone and keyboard are of a great standard especially in the way that the camera can rotate from inside to out.

-The extra high efficiency Acer antenna technology provides huge wireless signal and the Bluetooth installed also proves a great asset.
