I Acquired The Hannsg Lcd Hu151 Monitor By Acciden
I acquired the HannsG LCD HU151 monitor by accident, because an online retailer had mistakenly stated on its web site that a 15-inch display would be included with a rather expensive PC I ordered. However, when no 15-inch display arrived with the PC, and I complained, the HannsG HU151 was what turned up the following day.
Sadly though, when I switched it on there was a very noticeable green stuck pixel in the top right hand quarter of the screen. So I complained again, and next day the online retailer swapped out the faulty monitor via their well-known courier. Good service on both counts.
Now I am happy to report that the HU151 I have seems to be operating perfectly.
Nevertheless, the first point I must make regarding HU151 is that, on the warranty card it clearly states:
'If the number of blind-spots or light-spots found in each display is less than the number guaranteed by manufacture, HANNspree Europe GmbH has the right to refuse providing service or demand charges from customer for any services costs.'
While in the manual we read:
'The LCD screen has effective pixels of 99.99% or more. It may include blemishes of 0.01% or less, such as a missing pixel or a pixel lit all of the time.'
So it looks as if I was dead lucky to get my first HU151 with the stuck green pixel replaced.
However, despite my initial bad experience with this unfamiliar brand, I can honestly say that HU151 is a great little monitor for not a lot of dosh. At around 80 quid it would be ideal for Juniors bedroom. The display is crisp, bright and vibrant, with vivid colours. While the inclusion of speakers is a big bonus that helps avoid desktop clutter.
Okay! At only 1w per channel the volume won't rattle the windows. But, when workspace is at a premium, two tiny speakers are better than none eh?
Another thing I should mention is that one incarnation of the HU151 has an earphone jack just below the panel on the front. But mine doesn't. So if such a feature is important to you do check before buying.
HU151 is supplied with a VGA cable (no DVI port), power cord, audio cable with two 3.5mm mini-jacks and the usual warranty card, quick start guide and driver CD-ROM. The stand is very stable, and you'll find snapping the panel into it a cinch. I also notice four screw holes on the panel rear, which implies easy attachment to a wall - with the correct fitting of course. Yet where you would get one of those I cannot say.
Otherwise, I don't think you'll be disappointed with HU151. It's a fine smart piece of kit at a very attractive price.
