This product basically allows you to set up a wired network at home without having to worry about having to put a load of cabling everywhere to link up the device you're trying to put on the network and your network router.

So, if you have wireless web connection in your house and it doesn't reach into one room, you simply buy this kit, plug the wireless router in at one end and plug it into an electricity socket and do the same with the device you want to have web access in the room with no wireless signal.

The web connection basically goes along the electricity wiring in the same way as it would if you had the house wired up with an ethernet network - genius!

It also allows you to connect devices at a much higher speed than you could over wireless. For normal day to day usage this isnt that important, but if, like me, you want to stream video across your network (particularly high definition video) then the constraints of the wireless signal/speed is very real. This product runs at about 5 times the speed of wireless which means you really can throw round big files across your network.

It was incredibly simple to set up - you literally plug it into a normal power socket, then pug the other cable into your device and you're connected - no software to muck about with or anything - highly impressed with that.
