ECS (Elite) 945GZT-M

This cheap Motherboard came bundled with an e7200 would not recognize proper front side bus speed, video problems unless pci-e card installed, problems with XP pro. Planning to glue motherboard to backyard fence... not good for anything else... I do not recommend ECS (Elite) 945GZT-M.

Overall, an inexpensive board, but good value for $ spent. Decent business grade video & sound. Intel chipset, so works well with Pentium D & Core2 Dual.

30 of these computers were donated to my college with 1 DOA, 1 died a few days after installation and nearly 10 stall regularly. I have never seen such a bad product.

I built a budget Core2Duo PC with this motherboard. After only 3 days it started to refuse to search for boot devices when switched on, and then VGA output would fail on start up as well. I assumed a BIOS fault, and on their website are 2 very recent BIOS updates that list these issues amongst others. I tried both of them, using their (not very good) instructions to the letter. The flash update utility works fine, but could not open either of the .ROM files. I e-mailed the technical service but have had nothing but an automated reply in over 2 weeks. I returned it to supplier who confirmed it faulty and refunded me. Bought an Asus instead, £20 dearer but it works!

So, this ECS Elite is a good product on paper, but poor reliability and non-existent support means never again for me.
