I Currently Have One Of These Drives In My System,

I currently have one of these drives in my system, I say currently as I plan to buy many more, they are fantastic value and better performers than most 2TB drives on the market.

I can transfer files at over 120MB/s to/from this drive and about 80-100MB/s over my LAN!!! They are perfect for HD streaming, Photo/video editing, Gaming or running apps. They would be suitable for running an Operating system but I personally prefer my 1TB Spinpoint due to the faster rotational speed of 7200RPM compared to the 5400RPM of the 2TB F3 Spinpoint. Because of the lower RPM speed access times will be lower but I must admit, I don't notice it.

All my drives are Samsung, from the 2x 500GB F1's,5x 1TB F2's, 3x 1.5TB F2's and my latest addition the 2TB F3. The reason I have all Samsung drives it because they are fast, reliable and quiet, not to mention the best value on the market.

The 3 year warranty is great, only 1 drive has had a problem, when I filled it up it lost some data so I RMA'd it and within 3 weeks I had a brand new drive. I was offered a replacement from any manufacturer but I decided to get another Samsung because they are hard to beat.

If you are thinking what drive to get then all you need to do is decide on a suitable capacity, personally I choose the highest capacity in my budget, and choose the Samsung Spinpoint drive that suits. In my opinion there is only one brand choice, Samsung.

As a quick note, I have tested the 500GB, 1TB and 1.5TB drives in RAID mode, obviously pairing up equal capacity drives, and was satisfied with the boost in speed. I however don't run them in RAID mode normally.

Overall I cannot fault any of the Samsung range of drives in any capacity. Great performance, Low power use, High reliability, Quiet operation and fantastic value for money, what more could you ask for?
