It Is Not Very Often Your Kids Say Dad Its Your Bi
it is not very often your kids say dad its your birthday we're taking you to buy you new speakers , listened to about 10 different makes models ,after lugging 27kilo of valve amp into the hifi shop and 4 hours later walked out with these bookshelves priced at $300Au. Most would say your joking. kids were willing to pay up to $1000AU . so if you are looking for well made bookshelves in the $1000 bracket give the welling windsor ws-5R, s a try. with the change from a grand will get you some good quality speaker cable & leads . sit back and enjoy
Can't agree more. I've owned a pair of WS-6F speakers for about 12 years after spending some time comparing them to various name band speakers in a side by side listening test. I thought at the time that they were clear winners. I bought a pair of floor stock speakers that had a few marks on the boxes and go them for a small fraction of the original $1250. Welling speakers get such a bagging that you begin to believe that they must be rubbish. As a result I've recently been considering replacing them.
The rose wood boxes on WS-6Fs are great quality and still look like new. I think it might be real wood veneer. The mid and 2 bass drivers are made of some sort of woven material (Kevlar?) and again show no sign of deterioration. Upon looking round it became apparent that to replace these speakers with speaker of equal build quality and appearance I would have to spend upward of about $1500.
To top it all off I'm more than happy with the way they sound. Maybe the bass could be a little more solid but when I bought them I deliberately wanted speakers with a more subdued bass as compared to my previous Cerwin Vega speakers.
Welling speakers are designed/engineered in the UK and made in China. Don't let this this put you off, because I've noticed that many big name speaker manufacturers now have their speakers made in China or some other Asia country.
If you are in the market for a pair of floor standing speakers do not dismiss the WS-6Fs based on the general dissing that Welling speakers get. If you can find a pair, have a look and listen and make up your own mind. The price will probably be bargain basement as well.
Welling windsor WS-6F are very good speakers. The sound of most instruments very clear and are closer to the listener whilst the bass is heard in the background. This makes the overall sound of music very clear and balanced as well as enjoyable to listen to. Those speakers are very hard to find.
