Kicker COMPVR Aluminized-CVR 10

After not being in torch with the car audio seen for nearly 17 years, I decided I needed to add a set of subwoofer's to my system! I didn't want to spend a great deal but at the same time I didn't want to sacrifice sound quality over price. I remember back in the late 90s there were a couple of manufactures that supplied high end car audio equipment. One of these manufactures was www.kicker.com, I decided to see if they were still around and sure enough they were still treading.

I looked through there range to see what was on offer at the price range I could afford and came across there cvr range. Initially I was a bit sceptical as to the sound quality of the subwoofers. So I decided to do another search on their CVR 10's. What I read sounded promising so I decided to go ahead with the CVR 10's in duel 2 Ohm configuration (Duel 4 Ohm also a option).

Opening the box, the subwoofer was neatly packed it come with a user manual and some kicker sticker's. The manual was very helpful, it told you the power the woofer could handle, different wiring configuration and also gave you a guide to what box size and port size to use dependent on your goals!

The woofer itself was of good build quality with lively heavy duty speaker terminals that are colour corded to help with the wiring configurations. The magnate on the back also comes with a rubber surround although I can't say what this is for! Probably some sort of electrical insulation?

I bought a pair of these speakers and wired them up in series/parallel in dual chambered ported box, which was about 1.53 ft3 per chamber in size!

So I guess this is the bit that everyone wants to read, what did I think of the sound quality?

Well let me say this! I'm a fussy person to say the least; I listen to all types of music from rap to rock!

So was I impressed! I was boldly impressed the cvr 10s not only sound great at low volumes but even when cranked up. They also come with a monster of a punch, they can buzz my trim shack my mirrors rattle my stomach with no problems but the sound quality is all there. for the money you spend and save, worry more about your source unit or amplifier as these woofers will perform floorless regardless of what you through at them!
