Although Reluctant To Go With The Yamaha Dspax761
Although reluctant to go with the Yamaha DSPAX761 amp, due to slightly less power (100 watt compared with this models 90 watt) than my last, I am pleasantly surprised by the quality sonically and aesthetically of this model. Perhaps aimed at mid range market, this amp supports full 1080p through a mere two HDMI which is slightly disappointing if you own, like me, more than two HD sources.
This 7.1 channel amp supports a range of inputs which can all be configured to different input settings, i.e. setting the 'DVD HD' to perhaps DTV/CBL, this way it is fully customizable. This amp also boosts a front input with S-video, composite, RCA audio and optical should you need to connect a camcorder etc.
This amp also includes a wide range of 'CinemaDSP' modes to suit the source viewing or listening, for instance 'concert hall', and 'theatre' etc, along side the standard Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Digital ex, dts ES, and Neo:6. This amp also features an optimizing mic to assist in set up, and scene control as well as a 'Pure Direct' Function to minimize circuitry to allow for the purest sound.
I just it to drive Kef speakers and the sound is very good and will comfortably drive most speakers. The amp will scale up video 'one notch' for instance, Composite gets output as composite and Component.
