Plasticy Junk With Poor And Easy To Fail Electronics

You truly get what you pay for in life and this DAB radio is an excellent example of that much used adage. I ordered it as a gift. When it arrived I was immediately disappointed with the styling and plastic feel of the item. It just shouted out poor quality. So it wasn't ANY surprise at all to find that when I put the batteries in it turned on and continued to restart every few seconds. I took it apart to take a look inside, thinking I may be able to spot a loose connection, I couldn't. The inner workings were badly put together, glued out of alignment and flimsy. If it had been working I sincerely doubt it would have lasted more than a week. Poor product from a poor company. Avoid at all costs.

I Bought The Goodmans Personal Dab Radio For &pou

I bought the Goodmans personal DAB radio for £43.99 from Argos. When I got home I would've thought that the DAB radio would only pick up the BBC, Absolute, Classic FM and PlanetRock stations after looking at the DAB post code predicter on the digital one website. Amazingly, outside in the back garden, the radio searched for 52 digital radio stations. They all played well with no cackles or pops. The sound quality is good with most stations. A couple of stations had poor sound quality but this is not a fault with the pocket radio. It is due to the nature of the DAB broadcast. If you are after a simple low budget pocket radio, this is the one for you.

The batteries will only last upto 10 hours sometimes less than that but that is normal for a small sized unit with 2 small AAA batteries. Use rechargable batteries (hi capacity Ni-Mh if possible) instead of alkaline one's. I am not sure about the earphones supplied with the radio but you can use any other headphones, earphones, portable speaker system or a music system using a line in lead.

Easy to use buttons. Simple display. Good sound quality and reception. The equaliser functions works a treat! Works well in the bedroom connected to a set of amplified speakers.Had no problems removing the battery cover and inserting the batteries.

For Less Than £45 The Goodmans Ghdab101 Is

For less than £45 the Goodmans GHDAB101 is a very good very portable DAB radio. Light enough and small enough for a shirt pocket even though its a not very slim.Good reception and sound quality. The controls are easy. Very few adjustable settings make it simple to use. Equaliser not too effective.Only down side is the need to rescan the DAB stations each time the battery runs flat although this only takes about a minute.
