Ferguson FRG-120D

Radio brought 30/08/2006 for £49:98 from Currys.

Happy for the first couple of years then it started going down hill from there, it would keep turning its self on and off at will, Chinese writing would appear in LCD display screen, the volume would suddenly get louder for no reason, had to unplug the radio from the mains due to the on/off button not working.

If this is modern digital techno-acknowledgement then I feel I've been ripped off, I've got a mono radio its over 25 years old and it still works.

sorry Ferguson you better go back to the drawing board your radio is rubbish.

Today's technical products only last's a certain amount of time, not like the yesteryear days objects they was made to last.

Thought it would be great to listen to faultless digital music channels. Bought the radioas a present to myself. I thought I was at fault re tuning it as have the buzz/hum sound, sometimes impossible to tune and the contortions to try to move radio and aerial do save on attending the gym. Tocapitallthe plug has just broken one of the pins coming off. Despite paying full price it will be going to the tip. If only I'd read the reviews beforehand!

Liked the look but this os not about form when not functional

I purchased the above mentioned Radio from Comet over a year ago in fact I brought 3 in total. One for myself, Mother-in-law & one for my partner who works away alot.

Both of the Radios were all working fine but when we had the Digital switch over both of the Radios went funny all chinzee writing came on the display screens & it would switch itself off throughout the day.

I had to go out & purchase another for myself & luckily my partner brought his back so his mother could use it because her went the same way.

I am in the process of writing to Ferguson regarding these issues.

I have used this unit for a couple of years, the display is fine, has never faltered and the unit always wakes me up when required. Needs a decent length aerial where I live but overall very pleased with the unit

I get no response at all on Digital - other than, for every programme, "not available". At first, my area (L18) was not digital and thought that explained it, I thought, but now we are, and there's no digital service on the radio. I borrowed someone else's small digital radio and it works perfectly in the same room as the Ferguson FRG 120D fails. FM is OK, but digital is non-existent.

It looks good and would make a pleasant piece of furniture, but the performance is just non-existent.

It may be an internal fault in the radio, but can a I find a dealer to check and repair a Ferguson DAB radio - not at all either through Yellow pages or on the internet. No-one can be found to advise.

I'm disappointed.

Used this Ferguson FRG-120D radio O.K on the mains, subject to the shortcomings listed below. However, when I tried used it in battery mode down the allotment the batteries were flat the following morning, regardless of the battery quality used and only using them for about 2 hours.

Obviously something is draining power, but what??

After a few months I have the power hum everyone else gets, but lose the front display and the ability to turn the thing on even with the power hum still humming...

A bit of dismantling the displayed came back, but I'm taking it apart more frequently... so what a £10 of ebay who cares apart from the display playing up it works ok... I recommend the Ferguson FRG-120D.

I was given this radio while in isolation after a bone marrow transplant to pass the 5 weeks more enjoyably. It did not work any better then but I thought it was because I was in a hospital building and I did not want to upset the person who gave it me so brought it home with me when I was recovering. But my regular channels (radio 2, 3 and 4) are "not available".

After reading the comments on this website I am amazed this product was not recalled and it is still being advertised this Christmas!

The Ferguson FRG-120D DAB and FM performance is terrible. Is not easy to operate. It hums quite loudly when switched off. Now it has gone pop and won't work at all, it still hums though! Complete waste of money, DO NOT BUY!

For us - totally unsatisfactory!! We only bought it to receive DAB, and that doesn't work at all.
