Charged by Wind-Up/Solar or 5volt DC adapter- a USB lead is supplied. The sound quality is fine for a 2cm speaker but don't expect much bass. It is most useful for talk radio. It is surprisingly loud.
The station tuning is delicate; any movement of the device sends it's off channel so it is best set and left still.
Mine came with no instructions and it took me a while to find the on/off switch on the bottom by the battery replacement cover. The other functions are labeled and self explanatory.
It is advisable to charge fully by the DC input before first use and fully drain once in month to prolong battery life.
