Alba TRDAB2820

Nice neat design simple to clean and wipe over so perfect for use in every room. Easy to tune, easy to use, nice sound with good volume

My husband bought the Alba TRDAB2820 for me for a birthday present. Not long afterwards the display failed. Now there is a loud 'motor-boating' hum in the background. I took it back to Asda where my husband purchased it. They said they could do nothing unless I had the reciept which we did not keep (silly us). I tried to get an email address from Alba but could not find one, but found the phone number in the product leaflet in the box we had kept. I phoned them (10p a minute) they gave me a number for the out of warranty repair department NESN who then gave me another number for an engineer in my area. I phoned them and they said they could not get parts for Alba (or Bush - perhaps they are related). So three phone calls, a faulty radio, and no help. Rubbish service from both Asda and Alba. Do not buy this radio - you will be disappointed.

The display soon became very dim and has finally failed. The preset controls would not hold the settings. Loud hum when first switching on in FM mode.

Power comsumptiom in battery mode was far to high te be econmical to use. Power consumptiom in standby also appeared to be high,

This radio was never5 used with batteries, however, the inner battery springs and parts rusted badly (the radio has always been in dry warm room) rust is some kind of oxidation, my guess is inferion metal parts. After one year the radio is no longer working. WHY

My Alba packed up after 18 months! I would expect a modern radio to last very much longer.

I simply wanted to ask about whether it could be repaired and I emailed ALBA twice. I was ignored and never received a reply. I then wrote to Head office and again got totally ignored. I also tried a contact through Goodmans (Same group) and have received nothing. So, don't expect any customer service or technical back up from this company. They don't give a jot.
