I Guess some people like to fiddle thats why you have problems, if you just plug it in the PC, load music, remove from PC, put on the headphones and press play... it's simple.
Why Format! why upgrade firmware! just use it out of the box.

MATSUI 120 MR
I've got two of these (I mis-placed my first one which I found again but after I'd bought a replacement). I've used both regularly for a couple of years, often while out running and I've never had any problems with them.
While the Matsui isn't as stylist as an ipod or have as many facilities, it does allow the user to skip through songs or scroll down a list to find a particular album or song.
If you're not happy with the sound it'll be due to the EQ setting not being right for the type of music being listened to OR it'll be the rather average headphones supplied so just buy a better pair. As a "digital to analogue converter" though (which is basically all a mp3 player is in it's simplest form), this player does the job very well.
For me it's an advantage that it runs on a single AAA battery, rather than having to keep a charger to hand, and with a descent brand of battery I get about 8-10 hours of use out of it. Something else that's helpful for me is that the player comes complete with a USB connector to plug straight into the PC.
If people have problems with loading music onto these mp3 players I wonder if it's simply that it's not been correctly formatted first. I use Windows media player in sync mode on my Vista laptop and it never fails. To format, what I do is click on "Computer" and right click on the Matsui icon and go to "Format..." Then I select "Fat (Default)" in the File system drop down box and I tick "Quick Format" and then "Start."
Hope this helps someone.

To Somebody Looking At The Matsui 120mr Mp3 Player
To somebody looking at the Matsui 120MR MP3 Player Recorder and considering it in a shop, I would say 'don't even go there', because the MP3 player is more hassle than it's worth. I still have mine (where it rarely works as an MP3 player, it still serves as a good memory stick) but I think that I'm going to buy a different one.
Overall, you'd be much better off spending a little extra to get a decent model. I bought this in December 2006, it messed up in February that year and as a result I wasted money because it was too late for me to return it. Not only that, but I've heard of people with the same MP3 player who've returned it three or four times and still had the problem. I'd advise anyone who's recently bought one to go and get their money back ASAP.

I Was Advised To Buy The Matsui 120mr Mp3 Player B
I was advised to buy the Matsui 120MR MP3 Player by an operative in Computer World as a very cheap and efficient way of recording voice. I bought it with two speakers so that i could record and play something on a loop to accompany an installation artwork.I admit that I am not technical - but I have looked at the paltry GB Quick Start Guide and fiddled about - and talked like a mad thing into the microphone - but I can't get anything back!!There is no sound whatsoever coming from the damn thing. I bought batteries today (of course it was supplied without them but also without telling the consumer that there was no battery installed! )- But nothing. I know the battery is working because the LED is lighting up.Can anyone out there help me.
