Quality Sound - They Do Not Make 'em Like They Used To

We got this unit second hand whilst looking around for a unit that has CD, radio and cassette (the latter obviously a rarity) for our child's room - to play no longer in production children's cassettes from yester-years, which friends and family passed on to us.

I am highly surprised by the clarity of sound from this little unit. Turning it up does not make it lose any fidelity at all. The design of the unit is still contemporary and relevant. With the minidisc / MD (although obsolete) it allows us to convert the tapes into a more sustainable (non-deteriorating) media. It has a recording features that allows tape or CD to MD recording. Fantastic product from Sony.

12 Years On And Still Awesome

I first purchased this system from a store where this was the only Mini-Disc capable system...One of few chance decisions that I do not regret.

The system is still considered fully loaded by today's standard that only lacks a digital radio but a digital radio bridge fed in through the AUX IN has resolved that.

Everything still works on as it did from new and sound is more crisp than one of Jean-Claude Van Damme Coors Light Beers.

Likes:

1) - still looks cool

2) - Sound is crisp and clear

3) - Despite regular higher than normal volumes nothing vibrates or rattle

Dislikes:

1) - Remote control has a few sticky button but nothing a jiggle doesn’t fix

Have had the Sony CMT-CP500MD hi fi since 2001 and had no issues with it. Every part of it still works as well as it did the first day I turned it on.

Basically, It's A Very Good Component With Verstal

Basically, it's a very good component with verstality of features and it's a component that gives excellent value to the price. And something that maintains the standards of sony quality components. I had it for about 4 years now and still makes me proud to be the owner as my friends envy it so much. Simply good if not the best. The digital input is one thing that stands out on the crowd of other rivals. Was the best around the time i purchased it. It can be remanufactured with some extra functions like dvd player, mp3 player, larger display, and more compatible with other components. Still i am the proud and satisfied owner. Many thanks to the people at Sony Corp.
