Onkyo TX-DS595

I bought this Onkyo TX-DS595 a good few years ago on the basis of it winning the What HiFi 5 star award and of course a good solid listen and comparison. It's fantastically clear, accurate, fast paced and great for channel separation. It really immerses you in the movie. Give it a good source and it will reward the listener. It can do no wrong other than the points I mentioned in the bad points and they are minor (the next model up, the TX-DS696 had both of these options and a separate powered zone rather than just A and B speakers and yes I should have bought that instead).

I'll be getting a subwoofer sometime soon so hopefully that will solve the power issue.

Overall a very transparent sounding amp (not tainted towards warmness like Harmon Kardon's equivalently priced unit or bright like Yamaha's products have a reputation for). OK it's not the Cyrus 2 I used to have for CDs but it's not bad.
