Pulled this drive from an old business computer from one of my clients.
Tested fine, and when it came time to build a stand-alone Windows 98SE
Gaming platform just for Glide Games (3DFX) - I used this drive.
Reads all the old CDs of Games I'd accumulated over the years, and plays those that require the CD in the Drive flawlessly. I have not used this with Windows XP, but it may have been used with Windows 2000 in its first life.
It has the tabs on the side of the tray to allow the drive to be run from its side, which is good for my Gaming System.
Only Negative I've had (so far) is that it will open the tray if you press the button to open it BEFORE the disk has stopped spinning. Not always, and I had the drive horizontal when it happened, so unsure if the disk would become a rolling projectile.
