“Just a broker that charges £320 for something you can...”

This company is a broker that charges you £320 to look on their database of driving instructors and book in a date with an instructor. You then have to organise all of the comms with the driving instructor and just pay the instructor directly by the hour when you see them. They have no different booking system for booking your test than you going on the government website yourself and booking it. They won't help you pass quicker than just using a regular instructor, you're better off looking on the government driving instructor site and calling them yourself - first instructor I spoke to could give me lessons sooner than this place. I lost £260 because they said it was possible to bring the course dates forward then lo and behold it wasn't. Despite the fact I had a privately organised lesson with the instructor who was apparently 'unavailable'. Avoid.

Booked a lesson two months ago driver didn’t show up and no notification . I called and was told to wait another ten mins , 40 mins in and called again to be told he’s probably not coming and I need to try again.

“No show on first lesson - Cardiff”

Booked a lesson in Cardiff online on Friday for the following Monday, got a confirmation email and text (but no option to pay which seemed strange) so all looked ok. Got a text reminder the day before with the instructor's name and confirmation of the date, time, etc. Monday has arrived but the instructor was a no show, no call, no text - nothing. Initially I was thinking about doing this lesson as an assessment towards taking an intensive course with Bennetts, obviously I'm looking elsewhere now.

“Do not use”

Instructor took my money for the lesson which was booked before the driving test and refused to take me to the test. I paid him £30 and lost the money I paid to book the test. His name is Chadi elaud. Do not use him

“inpatient, rude and aggressive ”

NEVER AGAIN! I had 18 lessons, one week till my test and I felt so uncomfortable. The instructor name was from Swindon. So inpatient, when I would do something wrong he would become aggressive and start to swear, he had no consideration that fact that I am learner and he expected me to know everything. He had a habit of being late and changing times of my lessons, he was never consistent in time keeping. I felt as I was getting told of every single lesson baring in mind I'm a learner and of course things will go wrong. Please AVIOD this instructor from Swindon, unless you want aggression and abusive language with no patients.

“DO NOT USE”

f i could give zero stars i would.. Did a 18 hour intensive course, had the most horrible, unwelcoming rude instructor. Explained i'm deaf and haven't driven on roads as big as this, and slightly uncomfortable jumping into fast. Instantly took me on the main roads, shouting, slamming the gas and clutch changing the gears in a very angry way. Instantly told him to take me home, called to complain and they said they wouldn't do anything about it because otherwise HE wouldn't be paid!!!! i lost almost £700 due to this!

“STAY AWAY!”

I booked an introductory two hour lesson on Tuesday of this week and received a very professional booking confirmation that I printed off with the name of the instructor and the time and date of the lesson. This was followed up with a text message via email to me YAHOO address 24 hours before the driving appointment. Impressive I thought. That's were the good vibes ended. My appointment was booked for today (Saturday 27th) at 10:30am and I went downstairs to wait in the street for the instructor at 10:20am. That was my first mistake. No instructor came or called. I waited in the street until 10:40, thinking perhaps he was lost or running late and did not have my number and then called the main booking line, as I did not have the instructor's number myself to call him and follow up with his whereabouts. The lady who answered the phone was friendly and as helpful as she could be when she took my details. She checked the system and confirmed that I was booked in and there were no notes indicating a cancellation. She promised me that she would contact the instructor and then call me back to let me know if he was running late. No calls came through from the school or the instructor. I then called back at 10:56. The lady who answered the phone apologised and said that she was only operating a switchboard and advised me to go home and give up on the lesson. Really? I was surprised that a "professional" school with a slick website would operate in this manner. She advised that she would let the owner of the company know what had happened today. I will await his call. I want to advise anyone considering this school to forget it, move on, pay someone else and get a professional driving experience. Don't be taken in by the slick website and the fancy pictures on their website.

“NEVER TURNED UP AND DIDN'T BOTHER TO CALL”

I rang up Bennett's Driving School on Tuesday to arrange a lesson on the Friday, gave all my details etc and received two confirmation text messages. On the day the driving instructor didn't turn up and after half an hour I called the driving school. A surly and helpful woman said it's not their problem as they're only the answering service but that she could contact the owner of the business for me (she said she wasn't able to give out his number as she and the answering service were the only point of contact). I never received a phone call back from the driving school, nor from the instructor, nor an apologetic text message saying they couldn't make the lesson. I have tried on two further occasions and now can't get through (surprise, surprise). All I can say is I'm so THANKFUL I never paid for a block booking of lessons, and having read the other reviews would certainly never recommend this driving school..!!!

“Poor advertisement”

I have not taken lessons with Bennett's as I already have a driver's licence. However, in Milton Keynes I was "tail-gated" by one of their instructors going around the roundabout to get on a dual carriageway. At the traffic light, as soon as the light changed from red, I could seem him waving his arms around for me to "get going" which I already had. He then swerved around me down the entrance to the dual carriageway, despite me already doing the speed limit. Sorry, I was holding him up, but surely a very poor way to behave when driving around in a branded learner car. Think twice before using them to learn how to drive.

“Moved then cancelled lesson by text, booked far in...”

Was gifted a voucher for christmas for 4 hours driving booked the first lesson in advance due to work holidays etc. Received a text near the time you're lesson is moved from Friday to Saturday, then a few days later you're lesson has been cancelled. Contacted for a refund (not for me) for the person who brought me the lesson was told the owner would phone me back DID NOT HAPPEN still waiting...... Dont waste you're time they dont care about you.

“If you can get a slot straight away it's for a good...”

Instructor aggressive and impatient. Have 2 sons learning at the same time. First went to a m anin Cheltenham got a slot straight away, the other son we waited 3 months to get an independent instructor. Second son was doing far more in his first few lessons than my other son ever did in 26 lessons with the first man and having been out with them both the first son was the better driver so I put it down to that man and his teaching methods. After his last lesson with him where he was literally shouted at whilst navigating a round about and leant across to indicate we knew it was time to call it a day. He is now due to start with the other instructor. £600 wasted I feel. I've learnt a good instructor is worth waiting for. If they can fit you in right away I'd be wary.

“Waste Of Time”

I turned 17 in October and started to learn to drive in November. My parents where given a deal from Bennetts of 5 hours lesson time for £59, however, it was luck of the draw which instructor you where given. Unfortunately, my instructor was not up to standard considering how much money a driving lesson costs now! At first, he seemed fine, lessons where regular and on time, i felt like was learning fast. My first test came along and i failed, then the second test and i failed again due to not being taken on a specific roundabout which required me to use a third lane, i began to ask my friends if they knew that, if their instructor had taken them there and they all said they did it ages ago. Then one day before my third test my instructor texts to say his clutch is slipping and whether i can use my own car. Now many pupils like me will know its not that simple just to take the test in another car without having the appropriate practice. Therefore i took the test in his car and failed due to silly mistakes caused by being nervous of the cars slipping clutch. If getting these tests weren't hard enough it made it even harder when my instructor seems to always be away or busy when i find earlier tests. I waited over a month to hear from my instructor about a test i had booked only to now find out he is on holiday the whole week before my test making it impossible for me to have any lessons before hand. If you are looking for an instructor who will support you until you pass don't get one from Bennetts, i have felt as though i have been forgotten about due to the fact i no longer need so many lessons. instructors who are just in it for the money shouldn't be doing this Job because learning to drive can be a very long and stressful time for pupils. My new instructor is now going to teach me out of the bad habits i have picked up from this instructor from Bennetts.

“Disgusting rude unreliable ”

So I booked lessons with Bennetts hoping I'd have a great instructor I'm young and speak English well but apparently the owner assigns a very incapable rude instructor to foreign people even though I have no idea why as I can speak English and I am British. Apparently it's because the instructor has patience with foreign people but I was assigned this instructor because my names foreign honestly disgusted. The instructor who's very unwell would say inappropriate sexual things to me if I made a mistake. I actually am disgusted at bennetts for not ringing me back after I complained, clearly unprofessional and the owner doesn't deserve a penny as he assigned a 70year old who's car is absolutely dirty and constantly talks and less driving and takes £23 for each hour and I got no where with him because I was just too nice to him. The owner should have decency to call and apologise but terrible service doesn't even deserve a star. I WOULD ADVISE DO NOT GO WIU BENNETTS ESPECIALLY IF YOUR FORIEGN AS THEY TALE ADVANTAGE of you and give you a run for your money.

“WHAT A LET DOWN!! ”

Booked my first two hour lesson two weeks ago as this was the only first available day. So I had booked the day off. Waiting excitingly and patiently I then get a text message half an hour before my lesson was due to start from the instructor to say he was cancelling due to not feeling well. I can understand if your not feeling well but a backup placement should be in place in situations like this as I now have wasted a day for nothing. Having said that, I should have read the reviews for Bennetts driving school first as then I wouldn't have bothered in the first place as all reviews I read states how rubbish this driving school is!!

“Terrible service”

I called Bennetts and booked first lesson. Received text out of the blue saying my lesson had been moved 5.5 hours later, called to find out why and because it was inconvenient for me. The call handler couldnt see a reason why it had moved and asked if i wanted to re-arrange, asked if i can change instructors as dont see why i should have to miss out on my slot, was told the owner of the school will contact me. Received call next day whilst i was in work so couldnt answer, called back and had no answer so left a message stating availability to take call. Still no call so rang call centre who said they will contact owner again. The owner rang back saying the instructor and him had called me numerous times and left messages when they clearly didnt and also said i cancelled my lessons after the time i was supposed to have it and didnt turn up for the driver, i was attempting to book my first lesson and hadnt had one yet so that was obviously untrue. Owner of school said instructor would call back and no call received. The owner has a terrible attitude and useless instructors. The call centre were excellent and are the only people worthy of the star I had to rate them.

“Customer service was shocking”

Rang to enquire about automatic lessons...was told "Can't help you".When I questioned this I was told "We don't do this in your area". I responded in a quite surprised tone "Oh I thought you did". The rep then replied "No.We don't do it in your area and I don't think we ever have!" To which our conversation ended.I questioned myself and re-checked the web site where it clearly still stated that there was an offer of automatic lessons in my area. Seems trivial to some but,I cant stand rudeness.

“Dropped after failing ”

I have been a customer of Bennetts for around 7 months and have completely wasted my money. After failing my practical test for the first time I contacted my instructor asking for lessons; it took 5 days for him to contact me before saying he has no avaliabiliy for a month because he's taken on new customers. After investing a lot of time and money to him, I feel like I have been dropped with no interest in helping me pass. I have also noticed the lack of professionalism my instructor had during my lessons, with him being more interested in his phone rather than my learning. I'm now looking for new instructors but my confidence has taken a knock, would not recommend to anyone.

I have spoken to people who have used BDS, After my dreadful time. It appears i am not alone. They want your money but do not give any customer service. On justify one review The owner thought it ok that the learner had not learned enough to sit his theory test after 9 months never mind his actual test. He justified his company by saying if it was so bad why did stay for 9 months. The poor sole had nothing to bench mark it against. I don not understand how they are still in business. It will be interesting to see if a positive response follows this review. I have notice this happens a lot. You have been warned.

“WORST EVER !”

I was learning to drive with Bennett’s for 9 months, after which my instructor had informed me he was leaving in 2 weeks which gave me absolutely no time at all to find a replacement instructor with only a few weeks to my practical this left me feeling angry as I knew he knew he was moving longer than the time he gave me to prepare for his leave. My instructor told me he would contact his manager and get a replacement instructor for me to take over straight away he did not even contact his manager this left me at a disadvantage for my practical which is not fair, with the last lesson with him I decided to contact Bennett’s myself they had told me that they could not transfer me to a new instructor… this was not my fault it is not like I can carry on my lessons with an instructor to my practical I have no instructor! I have already been with Bennetts for 9 months I am a customer and all I get told is I can’t book you in were full… ARE YOU SERIOUS? After missing two weeks of lessons I finally found an instructor who could take me on, after with one lesson with him I found I learnt more and found it easier to learn with his teaching methods than the Bennett instructor, there was also major things the Bennett instructor did not even tell me about, he had told me I was ready for the practical, my new instructor had told me I was not even close to being prepare for the practical. This is just demonstrating that Bennetts is just unreliable, costly and have poor communication and customer service skills. It has cost me so much money now. I would not recommend Bennett’s to learn to drive, I cannot even bring myself to rate it!

We cannot help that our instructor was relocating and that all of the other instructors in your area are full with other clients. Again we are sorry about this and wish you every success in the future in passing your driving test.

You can't justify this by asking why she stayed for 9 months!
She didn't complain about the service she received whilst learning but the fact that the instructor left her high and dry so close to her test.
I think you should consider the impression you're giving when replying to reviews as this has certainly put me off booking with your company.

I had similar experience. I bought a £200 voucher for my grand daughters Birthday. When she tried to use it the owners dad was the instructor and he decided to retire and refused to hand back the £200. It was impossible to get to speak to anyone in charge, The dad was rude and hung up on me. I am so sorry they have treated you so badly.

Please can anyone help, I'm playing on doing a intensive driving course and its between 2 driving schools Bennett's and surepass, I've been doing a lot of reasearch on different driving schools and its come down to these 2. I need to make sure I'm making a right descion with who I choose, and now I've got it down to the best 2 I would be grateful for opinions and who would you highly recommend, many thanks
