Why is there no option for 0 stars? If you hear this mans name when your arranging builders then this is the best advice you will ever get.......Run a mile and dont look back. This advice will save you stress, money & endless problems with poor workmanship. Complete incompetent man and incapable of producing work to an acceptable standard, that is if he has not already disappeared with most of your money without completing work. “Very unprofessional and untrustworthy company”

Written on: 15/10/2016 by MaximoNichols (1 review written)

If I could give no stars I would. We used Franklin Windows a few years ago when Joshua Franklin's father was in charge and received an excellent service having several windows and a patio door fitted with no problems whatsoever. So when wanting another patio door fitting we had no hesitation in contacting Franklin Windows. We had not realised it was now run by Joshua Franklin the son, but if we had we would probably have still chosen to use the company based on its reputation under his… Read Full Review

“Take them to court”

Written on: 28/07/2016 by shervells (1 review written)

Terrible outfit that should be avoided! I like everyone else paid my 50% deposit and after months of excuses from Josh Franklin and others decided to make a claim on live via the small claims court, the day before court Mr Franklin sent me a text message saying he'd settle my claim knowing full well any court would wipe the floor with him. I would urge anyone to do the same and anyone else to stay well away from this company or anything to do with Josh Franklin… Read Full Review

I had an Orangery installed recently by Franklin Windows, the initial consultancy by the sales man was very professional and thorough, he showed me a proposed graphic of the Orangery and explained the options open to me, we paid a little more to go with Franklin due to their log established reputation. The build process started later than expected due to delays but once the guys got under way we were impressed with the professionalism. The Orangery is now complete and has provided us with the… Read Full Review

When researching for new Windows we wanted something different, wood windows ideally and we went to Franklin Windows due to their association with quality and service. I haven't been disappointed. We went for a wood inside and aluminium outside in grey, the new Windows look great, fitted on time and worth every penny. Thank you… Read Full Review

“NEVER BUY FRANKLIN”

Written on: 24/05/2016 by Dadsone (1 review written)

Whilst installation of conservatory on time and budget, quality poor and had to have follow-up visits to rectify faults, which took another 3 months. From work to end took 6 months. Within 12 months of completion two double glazed units failed, which meant further visits by reps from Franklin. But getting service under guarantee very poor. I felt Franklin not interested......Many appointments for repairs not kept and many telephone calls seeking further appointments ignored and promised… Read Full Review

“Terrible customer service and after sales support.”

Written on: 20/04/2016 by Swirly47 (1 review written)

We spent £21K on some glazed doors and lanterns for our extension to our home supplied and fitted for us by Franklin Windows. I run a small building company and was initially attracted to the company based on a visit to the showroom and the promise of a professional service and a 10 year garauntee. One of the double glazed units subsequently failed and mists up with moisture inside the unit. We spent over a year trying to get FW out to look at the problem only to be hit with a catalouge of… Read Full Review

“Feel so let down ”

Written on: 05/03/2016 by Addinghamcurate (1 review written)

We chose to go with Franklin as the name was known locally, and we like to support local firms - how I wish I had done my research first. Their customer service is appalling and I'm not even convinced that they fit doubled glazing! We contacted them back in Oct 2015 to come and provide a quote , there was an ad in a local sales mag offering 10% discount for orders placed before Christmas. We paid our deposit in October and in December had a letter saying installation was booked for 14 Dec… Read Full Review

“Poor Customer Service”

Written on: 13/01/2016 by PaulScott74 (1 review written)

Do not use this company. Windows for my grade II listed property were ordered November 2014 and the deposit paid with a 10 week completion date given and after numerous phone calls and emails that were not returned I eventually had to turn up at the factory to find out what was happening in the summer of 2015 and was promised that the problems the company was having was behind them and they would be able to complete my job. Having used the company before and it being a local company I was… Read Full Review

“Disgraceful Service ”

Written on: 23/10/2015 by MaryjaneAbernathy473 (1 review written)

Ordered 2 windows and 1 door in July and now wish we'd gone else where, we've been messed around ever since. The door has now been fitted (12th October) though still some work to do on it but no sign of the 2 windows. Phone calls and emails not returned absolute zero for customer service. I wouldn't touch this lot with a barge pole do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. Zero overall rating. Thank you so much for your honest review. It seems that a few customers that have had a negative experience with us have all congregated on this site and are leaving multiple negative reviews and comments. We feel that whilst some of these reviews are justified, overall these reviews and comments are giving a skewed view of our service. (we do hold our hands up and say that there has been some delays with a few customers that could have been dealt with better).

We also acknowledge that the previous company did go into Administration is October 2014 due to a historic debt with HMRC but I would like to state for the record that the new company has done its best to complete customer contracts and honour guarantees where possible (even though it isn't legally oblige to do so and sometimes where the cost of doing so was a lot more than any benefit).

“Franklin Windows - stay away or live to regret it!”

Written on: 06/04/2015 by jzBentley331 (1 review written)

I placed an order with Franklin in Spring 2014 for a French Door and a large conservatory replacement. They said they needed a large early stage payment to pay their suppliers I was later to find out that of the £16k deposits they only paid out £7800 to their supplier. In October 2014 they went into administration after chasing me for a further stage payment of £8000 they day before they did so saying they needed to pay the final instalment to the supplier. Despite the money they took… Read Full Review

Hi, yes, initially DGCOS said they would complete the work but then backed away when Franklin made some noises, eventually through 'the insurancebackedguarantee company' they are picking it up. It did take complaints to the Financial Services Ombudsman to get them to take responsibility though. It is a slow process. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply
it is much appreciated, and so prompt, unlike Franklin.
Sorry that Franklin have left you in as bad situation as me, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
Words cannot describe the heartache, time and frustration this company has caused.
To anyone else - avoid Franklin Windows ltd and all their empty promises like the plague.
Wishing you the best and hope you get it finished soon.
It looks like I have got a long road ahead.....

Clearly you need to take your own legal advice. In my case the installation was covered by a DGCOS guarantee and all the money was taken by the old Franklin Windows. After the administration the DGCOS guarantee would not have covered any work or monies given the the 'new' Franklin. DGCOS initially said that as Franklin had not been wound up, but had bought the company back and had bought the "benefit and burden" of the old Franklin contracts then they must be given the opportunity to complete the work. In order to give them that opportunity I had to give them formal notice under the contract (clause 8.2) with a reasonable period to complete the work. Their contract says 6 weeks is reasonable. When (not if) Franklin fail to complete the works if you have DGCOS cover then they should take over the contract and either access the compensation fund or complete the work. It will take time but will be properly done. Incidentally we are now in that process and have had a survey done by the DGCOS installer and of course Franklin had mis measured by the thickness of the frames so there will need to be some adjustment to be done.

These comments are not anonymous, you have challenged the review centre to take them down, they in turn have contacted the authors to seek proof of their statements and only when the proof was provided did the review centre agree to publish the reviews. The reviews are a true reflection of how franklins does business

Hi Ruby, well it turned out that not only were Franklins in breach of the terms of their asset sale agreement by failing to complete the job, but they were also incompetent. They mis-measured the Internorm doors and forgot to add the frame thickness (220mm) to the measurements, as a result what Internorm made is most likely going to have to be scrapped and remade. DGCOS/IBGco have so far kept to their word albeit very slowly. It may be another few months before the job is completed.

As you are aware the previous company was forced into administration due to historic debts with HMRC. Unfortunately, due to this Internorm would not continue supplying us any products. As such we were unable to complete your project as you still wanted the Internorm products that we no longer had access to.

That said, we did provide you with details of how you could claim on the insurance backed guarantee that old company took out of your behalf. If there is anything else we can do to help please do not hesitate to get in contact with us directly.

I won't comment on the reasons for your administration.

I will comment on your conduct. You did nothing to help and ignored almost all correspondence, you made false promises time after time and you did nothing to help with DGCOS, in fact the opposite, had you not agreed to take over and complete all existing contracts from the old Franklin the DGCOS guarantee would have been activated. The fact you 'bought' those contracts meant that you were still trading and therefore the guarantee was not deemed valid until you had further failed to complete the works in line with your promises. I will happily publish every bit of correspondence from you on this review site if you wish. Including the many claims that you had agreements with Internorm to get the products back and your lies and personal guarantees that you had the roof in your possession and 'all you needed to do was arrange the crane'.

Please feel free to respond.

To put the record straight on Franklin's "Business Response"

So Franklin claim "As such we were unable to complete your project as you still wanted the Internorm products that we no longer had access to"

This is incorrect. Franklin wrote to me on the 20th January 2015 saying they fully intended to complete the contract and they wrote to me on 13th March 2015 saying " Please find attached an extract of an email from Internorm which shows they are still willing to supply the goods on receipts of payment"

When Franklin went into administration the administrator made conditions that Franklin would buy the company and the "Benefit and Burden" of existing contracts and would complete all works on existing contracts at no additional cost to the customer. The Administrator's report also said that Franklin gave his 'personal guarantee' on this matter and they had checked that he had the money necessary to achieve this.

He did seem to forget or ignore this though as his letter to me on the 13th March 2015 says "Please note that the new company is completing your job, not because of financial gain, but because we think it is the right thing to do. It would have been easier for us to just walk away from it as it is going to cost us more to complete than the monies received by the new company"

After I received this letter I gave Franklin a formal deadline to complete the works or return my money after which they would be in breach, they of course failed to meet the deadline. This was what then allowed DGCOS to "subrogate" the contract and ultimately complete the works. DGCOS will then be seeking recovery from Franklins.

“Stay away from Franklin Windows”

Written on: 31/10/2014 by qoStout476 (1 review written)

We ordered Internorm patio doors from Franklin Windows in April 2013. The doors are manufactured in Austria by Internorm and Franklin Windows is a chosen partner who fit this product. As requested we paid a deposit and were given a fitting date 10 to 12 weeks away. After 12 weeks we contacted Franklin Windows to find out what was happening and after several calls back and forth we discovered that they had not sent the order in to Austria. We were given assurances that the order would go in and… Read Full Review
