I originally signed up to ESPN as part of a free 3month deal in January and although the picture wasn't great (very compressed) I decided to keep it at least to the end of the football season. I don't actually live in the house it is in it is my parents house and my dad likes to watch the football and the odd rugby match.
When I talked to customer service about quitting she offered me 2 months more free ESPN (or so I thought). My parents got Sky installed in July so no longer would be using the freeview box. I forgot to cancel until recently and I checked my bill expecting the £9.99 to be debited again after the free period. The debit was actually for £20.99. I had not got anything free at all, I was still charged £9.99 for the 2 months previous which had gone up to £20.99 after that. I had explicitly explained to the woman that I didn't live in the house and we had Sky in another room so I didn't want any other channels yet she added these 'TV favourites'(which seems a rip-off) to my account as well!
When I rang up to enquire about this and cancel my account the man I spoke to was very ignorant. He assured me that the woman I had previously dealt with was "long-serving and trusted" and that he had "listened to other dealing with other customers and she was very thourough"
So now I have to pay another £20.99 charge as they require 30 days notice to cancel. All in all I'm out about £50 after being lied to on the phone. Avoid this company like the plague, I'm truly disgusted with the service!
