EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED FROM GERMAN KEYBOARD MAESTRO UWE GRONAU A couple of years ago German keyboardist Uwe Gronau jumped into the international contemporary instrumental music scene and since then has quickly become one of the leaders of the eclectic end of the spectrum. He is much listened to because his fans cannot wait to hear what he will do next -- soft piano pieces or grinding synth industrial sounds, prog-like organ solos or gorgeous melodies. Now he is back with his latest mischievous romp, MYSTICAL MORNING. There are instrumental ensemble pieces with a prog-rock feel (like his ode to Keith Emerson appropriately-titled “Letter to Emerson”) and there are solo piano or piano-and guitar pieces. And there are a whole slew of amazing compositions in between with some great organ playing plus brief moments of acoustic guitar, a tambourine here, some bird sounds there, just all kinds of stuff. This is one guy worth checking out if you like melodic, yet innovative and eclectic instrumental music. Y
