    Mazda Premacy, also known as the M5, is considered a good value medium sized MPV. The Mazda Premacy is best described as a combination of saloon and minivan in compact form. The Mazda Premacy is very reliable and provides decent handling, lots of space, a good mpg rating and above average specification.

  • Mazda Premacy Specification

    Mazda Premacy was produced since 1999 for the UK. The first generation Premacy was a two or three row, five or seven passenger vehicle. The second generation added a third row of seats for up to seven passengers. Both generations offer near flat floors, a folding and removable second row; and fold flat rear seats. Prior to 2001 models were available in 1.8 litre petrol and 2 litre diesel. The petrol was available as a 99bhp GXi or 115bhp GSi; and the diesel as 89bhp GXi. All models have air conditioning, electric front windows and heated mirrors. The 2.0 petrol offers rear electric windows, traction control and alloy wheels. Clever features include an aldehyde filter for cutting out diesel and cigarette smoke. The rear seats sit 50mm higher than those at the front to provide passengers with an excellent view.

    The Mazda Premacy has ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution, front and side airbags. It scored three stars in the Euro NCAP crash test. Security is provided by alarm and immobiliser. Everyone who drives them seems to confirm the Premacy is an above average drive, with good levels of storage and overall they appear excellent value for your money. Later models are the best yet with improved performance and specification and stylish looks.

    Enhancements include upgraded suspension, sequential valve timing (S-VT) and communicative and dynamic product concept - an electronically controlled five speed automatic transmission mounted in all-front-wheel-drive, resulting in improved fuel and emissions efficiency and more comfortable ride. Also new for the latest Mazda Premacy are new body parts to create a sporty look. Other features include redesigned instrument panel and a range of seven new body colours as well as new interior colours. Additional 2007 Mazda Premacy features include newly designed headlights, LED indicator lights embedded in the door mirrors, Bluetooth system and AUX terminal for external devices.

    2001 Mazda Premacy Concept

    The 2001 Mazda Premacy concept showcased safety features such as power assisted rack and pinion steering. The ventilated front discs and rear drums brakes combine with ABS and Electronic Brake force Distribution. EBD automatically distributes braking force between front/rear wheels depending on load and optimising braking performance. Features included versatile seats to provide everything from seating for five to all-out hauling. Rear seats are higher than the front for better visibility. Styling includes front end sloping up sharply to the windshield providing excellent forward visibility and four large and wide doors offer easy access. The large rear hatch opens at bumper level offering easy loading. The Premacy Concept came with a 130-horsepower, 2.0-litre, DOHC and four-cylinder engine plus four-speed automatic transmission.
