Good price including most extras, lady l dealt with very pleasant and helpful, also easy to understand, rare these days. Unfortunately l expect next years quote to be unreasonable like other companies there doesn’t seem to be much customer loyalty, and l shall have to search again, shame

The words expressed here are of my own and in no way associated with Dial Direct Insurance. After receiving a new higher quote from my insurer it was time to go off searching. I did not see anything that grabbed my attention so left it until the following day. It was then I noticed a reminder from confused.com so I gave them a whirl, hitting me between the eyes was a quote fro Dial direct, far cheaper than I had seen elsewhere and extras attached as well. It took very little time to complete my insurance, payment was fast and email communication was equally so. I had to contact them today and used the chat live option, dealing with a bot is fine for some things but not for I wanted. After typing in "speak to a human" I was almost instantly passed on to a representative, very impressive indeed. The lady I spoke to was polite, clear and precise with her advise.

First time

Hunted high and low for a policy which contains all that's required to be fully insured for older people. Whilst some were competitive they still had added extras which bumped up the premium. Hence this is my first policy and so far I'm very pleased

Charged £20 non payment fee

I have been insured by this firm for about 3 or 4 years and previously had no complaints. This year I received an email with a quote, which I was happy with. I checked that my credit card details were correct for it to auto-renew. I then received email confirmation that my insurance had been renewed. A few days later I received an email saying that my payment had been declined. I contacted my credit card provider, who informed me that Dial Direct hadn't requested payment. I spoke to Direct Dial cystomer services and arranged to pay, but they said they were unable to remove the £20 non payment fee. I told them I was really unhappy, as there had been some problem between them and my credit card provider, which was totally out of my control. They told me they would make a note on my file and promised I would hear back. It's now been over 5 weeks and I've heard nothing. I'm out of pocket by £20 through no fault of my own. Will not be renewing with them next year.

I was sent a renewal quote in plenty of time, the quote was cheaper than last year. All I had to do was review the quote accept it and it was all sorted.

Stayed for another year!

Let me down and charged me lots of fees in the process.

I had a 2.0 BMW insured for over £600pa, I sold the car and bought a lower priced, lower powered Mazda 2.0. DD refused to insure it, which is absurd seeing when I got quotes they were all £280-350, so it's clearly lower risk in the market. They offered to forward my account to one of their 'partners' but they quoted £900-1200pa, absurdly over the market price, this left my no choice but to leave and loose 5 months NCB accrued with my previous car. It took them weeks to contact me after my contact. Eventually they emailed me saying I owed them £40 but not explaining how they came to that calculation plus £60 cancellation fee. Sure the £60 is in the T&Cs, but I don't feel it is fair, given I did not want to change my insurer or loose the NCB but they refused to insured a low risk car. I already feel let down by them and now they're charging me £100 adding insult to injury, particularly with the slow and vague customer service. This is why people don't like insurers, they perform badly but somehow always get to make you pay for their mediocrity. And despite emailing them several times they have not explained how I owe them money, seems I changed mid month and already paid that month. But whilst they're not responding to my emails, they're sending automated threatening emails for me to pay the monies quoted about or face debt collection. Their attitude to customers is screw you over once and not expect any new business from you obviously, because I'll never use them again, but if they'd been a bit more reasonable, maybe made a concession on the cancelation fee given they let me down, I might feel better about them. Instead I'm extremely annoyed and will speak badly about them to everyone I know at every given opportunity. And people ask me about insurance a lot.
