DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY - unexpected requests and charges on my credit card, and requests for outstanding credits totally ignored. I may be forgiven for believing that such practices may even be illegal if under UK Law.: I have travelled to Europe frequently for 20 years , normally hiring cars at least 4 times a year. I therefore understand the key details, terms , and potential pitfalls of the various and different offers and terms across the many car hire companies. I pre-booked a car in the UK on the RentacarSpain.com website at an agreed rate. On arrival at the airport I was advised that an inflated cost of 80 Euros was owing to include insurance. I explained that basic insurance was included in their quotation and website terms and conditions ( see website) and I had my own individual additional insurance policy anyway, to cover any more comprehensive insurance needs. I was informed by the gentleman delivering the car that I had no choice and unless I paid the amount in full, then I could not have the car. I phoned 2 other car hire companies to make alternative arrangements but there were no cars available. I reluctantly paid the extra as having no car and being stranded was not an alternative. As far as I am concerned this would be considered as an illegal consumer practice in the UK.However this issue is only minor to my real complaint. I was asked to authorise a payment which would only be charged to my account as an excess, in the event that I had an accident , which is fairly standard practice for car rental. However on return to the UK I discovered that 390 Euros had been charged to my credit card account. This charge should never have been levied. After many many expensive phone calls , I had been told by 2 members of RentacarSpain. that they agreed with me and credits would be raised. I continued to chase my credits where initially apologies were given for the delay , but 20 phone calls and numerous emails later, this company treat me as a new complainant each time, refuse to reply to my follow up calls and Based on my experience I can only recommend you do not use this company - I , and all my friends have moved to Cargest.

Rentacarspain do not seem to be a trustworthy company. We haven't got our €400 deposit back and have had to go to the credit card company to retrieve it. They don't answer emails and their communication is dire. My advice - use Rentacarspain at your peril!
