Timberwise has taken me for a huge ride! I was desperate to find a solution to my huge flooding problem in my basement and appealed to them for help. they have charged me in excess of 25 000 Pounds and left me iwth no gaurantees after disputing an account which was agreed as ' PAID IN FULL' They have seen me as a soft touch and left my property in an appaling state with wood hanging off behind the stairs, walls plastered in a very bad way, my furniture was used as a workbench and large cuts made in my wooden desk and huge amounts of dust in areas that should have been protected. Water damaged pillars of wood were sold to me and my central heating left damaged. Also the cabling to my broadband and wi-fi system no longer works next to my computer and the light fittings were broken and covered in plastering material. They never did a final snagging and on complaint they have taken more than two months to get back to me!This company is mercenary and must not be used!

I asked three companies to quote for treating rising damp at a Victorian property that I own. Two of the companies picked up, without being asked, woodworm infestation and also quoted for its treatment. I was able to meet Rory Stewart, the Timberwise surveyor, and instinctively liked and trusted him. He explained and showed to me that the 'woodworm infestation', was inactive and did not require treatment and that the timbers had, in fact, already been treated at some time in the past. This saved me a great deal of upheaval and money as woodworm treatment is very disruptive. Timberwise was not the cheapest for the damp treatment but the quote was clear and comprehensive. I noticed that the competition had omitted to include disposal of rubbish for which, no doubt, I would have been charged extra. The work came with an insurance backed guarantee. My lodgers were happy with the way the work was carried out. Three days had been allowed and it was completed in two. To my untutored eye, the replastering looked very good. The workmen cleared up well and, I felt, respected the property and furnishings.I would use Timberwise again and have no hesitation in recommending them. Anthea Paul

Timberwise dealt with woodworm issues and a dry rot problem in our Grade II listed building. They were efficient, tidy and great to deal with. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing similar services.

From estimate stage, through arranging work date, arrival on time and the work being carried out in a workmanlike fashion by helpfull a operatve, I can only fully recommend Timberwise this being the second time of using this company.

I would highly recommend this company. We have now used them twice, once for wall ties and the second time for timber treatment. On both occasions the work was completed to a high standard and on time. Excellent communication and very helpful. Thankyou to all the staff.

I had a survey on my property which identified wall tie failure and a little damp. timberwise quoted £10,000 for the remedial work to be carried out. I must state that I have no problem with the problems they found however after searching for similar quotes I actually found the same level of work guaranteed for £2000! In all I obtained 4 seperate quotes from reputable companies to the same level of work and quality standard - non of these even came to a quarter of the cost. I cannot help but feel that Timberwise were at best misguided in their assesment as I would hate to think they were ripping me off! Would urge anybody dealing with this company to shop around!

I called Timberwise to discuss the woodworm infestation to the first floor of our cottage. From first contact they were professional and quick in setting up a survey. The surveyor was on time, conducted a thorough survey and made it very clear exactly what the issue was (which was also confirmed in the follow up letter). The treatment works were also carried out in a quick and convenient manner (I guess it helped in my case as the cottage was completely empty and I had already taken up floor boards for access). I was more than happy with the service and the cost was fair. I would use Timberwise again and so I can recommend them with no hesitation.

Booking was easy, and despite the complication of 3 suspected species of bat in our loft space(!) we were able to book with precision to ensure we met the requirement to have the work done when it was safe to do so from a conservation perspective. The crew who came to do the job were courteous and pleasant, and we particularly appreciated the efforts they went to in order to help ensure the areas for treatment were clear. They also helped replace our stuff in the attic once complete which was a massive relief. Would definitely recommend them.

I found Timberwise to be be very professional throughout. I also believe they were very competative in their pricing. When it was discovered that the extent of rot was greater than first anticipated, they quickly rescheduled work loads to be able to complete everthing as quickly as possible, including working a full weekend. They were also very accomodating in agreeing days that no work could be undertaken (when I had to go away for a few days). Their team of technicians completed work to a high standard, were quick workers, tidied up as they went along, and didn't leave any of the irriting minor items undone (as can sometimes be the case!) When it came to pricing the extra work, they didn't attemt to "make hay while the sunshines" and were very fair. All in all....excellent!!

i found timberwise extremely proffessional in every aspect, from the surveyor, who gave us an honest and fair assessment of work required, the lovely ladies on the telephone, all the tradesmen involved, who were very tidy and efficient, cleaned up at the end of the day and very good timekeepers arriving at the time they said they would, overall they have done a fantastic job with as little interference to our normal household routine, well done timberwise. i cant think of one negative comment.

I can thoroughly recommend Timberwise to give you an honest assessment of what work is really necessary and whether you actually need to pay out for very expensive damp proofing. I had 6 firms look at my shower room. Timberwise stood out as the only honest broker. Their excellent surveyor Keith Defoe suggested I put a de-humidifier in the room for a few weeks to see if I could resolve the problem. In the meantime he gave me a quote both for full tanking and for a cheaper solution of applying a liquid damp proof membrane. He was happy to come back 2 months later to re-survey and told me the room was fine and didn’t need treatment. Some surveyor’s charged just to come out and the others would happily have taken £3000 or more to carry out unnecessary work to my room which incidentally had received a damp course treatment several years before. I expressed my suprise / delight at their approach and Mr Defoe told me they think honesty is the best policy. Going forward I would only use Timberwise for this type of work – I’ve had damp-proofing installed in 2 properties by 2 other installers one of whom has since gone bust. The other I would certainly not recommend.

I got quoted around £80 for them to just come and have a look at my property regardless of whether I used them or not for work (and potentially get ripped off anyway!). Other companies would do it at no extra cost, and from the timberwise website I was under the impression they were the same??
