“Reliable no-frills machine. Worth every penny.”

Written on: 20/01/2018 by SimonZ (2 reviews written)

OK, this machine is a bit noisy, and it beeps at odd times of the day and night, for no particular reason (hence only 4 stars). But we've used these machines for years. Ours gets used every day, twice a day or more in the summer. In Italy the replacement parts have always been expensive, but now it costs more to buy a replacement bowl and 2 paddles than a new machine! But thanks to a bad review here, I went to Komparnass and found the paddles and pan for very reasonable prices, so I bought… Read Full Review

“Excellent but did not last very long”

Written on: 06/06/2017 by Norahw354 (1 review written)

I have had my bread maker for just over a year. I have made about 30+ loaves in all during its life, before it started giving off an electrical burning smell and banging noise. It is a shame because if the breadmaker was more reliable it would have won my accolades over breadmakers I have had in the past. My previous one from gave me over 8 years of service and numerous loaves, but it was not as good as the Silvercreast one… Read Full Review

“I have used the machine 2-3 times a week for 4 years”

Written on: 04/03/2016 by Taniya281 (1 review written)

I have been very pleased with this bread maker having had a moly and a morphs Richards in the past that lasted just over there warranty period. Yes the bread will come out with big holes but by looking at the timing cycle I remove the paddles after the last knead. When washing the pan and paddles make sure the paddle dive pin are free (they can get very stiff due to the baking. Also make sure the holes in the paddles are completely clean of bread, if you don't the paddles do not sit down fully… Read Full Review

“DO NOT BUY!”

Written on: 01/02/2016 by Mirra (1 review written)

I am very disappointed with this product. I am a vivid home bread baker and was using this machine on regular basis. While it worked it did what it was supposed to do but very soon, under 1 year of use the rotating elements at the bottom of the baking mold wore out. I was not bothered since the bread maker came with 3 years warranty. Yes but no. I called the Kompernass customer service who deal with the warranty issues and they told me that the mold is a wearable part that is not covered by the… Read Full Review

I have used 5 bread makers over the years and you will find the price is very good, if try and buy the same parts for say from Panasonic, Philips you will find they will cost a lot more and made no better, also your price is with P&P

We've used these machines for years. Ours gets used every day, twice a day or more in the summer. In Italy the replacement parts have always been expensive, but now it costs more to buy a replacement bowl and 2 paddles than a new machine!.

But thanks to your idea, I went to Komparnass and found the paddles and pan for very reasonable prices, so I bought them there, two sets actually, with extra paddles. They should last a couple of years, and I'll probably buy even more then. These machines are simple and not much can go wrong.

I have no idea how you could possibly have worn out the roating elements at the bottom. They are almost indestructable, made of hard steel (because they get hot). The pan and paddles I am using are a disaster, as they are so old and worn (used continuously for over 2 years), but we still use them every day, and the roating bits at the bottom are perfect.

My advice: the customer service on Lidl stuff isn't generally good, but the pans and paddles do wear out after a year. Buying replacements is easy, and it is worth it to have fresh home-baked bread every day.

“Holders for pedals don't last”

Written on: 23/11/2015

I bought this breadmaker in Lidl and it made good bread for a reasonable length of time. However, the holders for the pedals eventually became loose and fall out when the bucket is lifted. This makes it difficult to lift the bucket with the mixture in it and difficult to position it into the breadmaker. I hate throwing things out that are actually in working order but it seems this is my only choice… Read Full Review

“Silvercrest Breadmaker”

Written on: 23/09/2015 by vnPalmer430 (1 review written)

Having had a Prima Breadmaker for over 20 years, the only problem was trying to find a new belt, I decided with a house move to buy a new breadmaker. Lidl were selling this one, so I decided to buy. The first loaf was perfect and the second. Use good quality flour - I use Wessex Mill, not the cheapest. Good selection of programmes, the tin washes easily. The machine is quiet in operation and the loaf comes out of the tin easily, once you let it cool slightly. I haven't tried the gluten… Read Full Review

“Cheap but not perfect”

Written on: 10/09/2015 by svKirkpatrick70 (1 review written)

Seemed a bit hit or miss, I tried different recipes sometimes they turned out fine other time's the bread would collapse and be a bit solid, particularly wholemeal. Eventually I managed to turn out a reasonable loaf with a bit of experimentation. The first breadmaker lasted about 2 1/2 yrs and then the machine didnt warm up during the 'proving' cycle, I overcame this to some extent by using warm water at the beginning and removing the loaf tin a couple of times to put in a warm place during the… Read Full Review

“going to miss my machine”

Written on: 18/06/2015

I have had my machine just under the 3 year guarantee and the element is not warming up,I am starting it with warm water and I only use it to knead so am managing by kneading it in the machine and taking it out to rise. My problem when I contacted them is they want me to send it back to Germany for testing before they will send me a new one. If I do that how long will I have to wait so have decided to buy a new one and write this one off. Had hoped I could return it to a Lidl store and collect… Read Full Review

“Gluten Free doesn't work”

Written on: 18/04/2015 by MichaelSee (1 review written)

My wife was excited about being able to make gluten free bread for our coeliac daughter. Her excitement turned to extreme disappointment when it was obvious the machine could not produce gluten free bread. It has a special programme, instruction were followed to the letter, and all that came out was an unrisen doughy uncooked lump. We are experienced with bread machines and making gluten free bread in the oven and so it wasn't due to lack of experience! We also agree with the other reviewers… Read Full Review

“Silvercrest Breadmaker”

Written on: 11/02/2015 by jnBeebe491 (1 review written)

I have had several bread makers in the past. In 2012 I was given this Breadmaker as a gift. I have used it regularly and it has never let me down. Incredible value at £34.99! As good as its more expensive rivals. The only problem I have encountered is that the bread is difficult to take out of the tin without leaving two big holes. I do like others who have written reviews on this site now remove the paddles at the end of the last knead which the machine allows you to do with its pause… Read Full Review

“Only problem is the paddles”

Written on: 06/09/2013

The best thing about this bread machine is the shape of the tin, the loaf never collapses from rising too much it is a narrow tin and you get a lovely tall loaf. The worst thing is the paddles, they stick to the bread or they stick to the machine leaving two large wholes in the bottom of the loaf and now one of them after less than year is no longer catching the motor drive bit, so it wont kneed the bread until I can find a replacement paddle. The display is a bit hard to read… Read Full Review

I had the same problem, but solved it by removing the paddles after the mixing stage. A bit messy, but then only leaves the spindle hole and not the whole paddle. Hope this helps.

“A very good bargain as a brea maker (gluten-free bread...”

Written on: 04/03/2012 by moise92 (1 review written)

This is my first bread maker. Many friends of my wife had one, but twice the price of yhis one. I bought the SBB 850 EDS A1, we compared and it appears that this model makes as good bread as the competitors. One more detail : there is a GLUTEN-FREE program for people suffering from coeliac disease.. more and more children (and even adults) get that disease and I think this is a delicate attention to have included this functionality; especially at this price ! It is even possible to make bakery… Read Full Review

It's all very well providing a gluten-free setting, but they should have checked it worked! We bought one from LIDL for our coeliac daughter and on the gluten free setting the bread is an uncooked disaster! We are experienced with bread machines and so it wasn't due to us not following the instructions. We took it back after a week. The paddles mangled the bread too
