“I enjoyed it”

I used to watch the Smurfs as a kid, so I got all excited when I found out that they were making a movie about them! I and my daughter really enjoyed it, even though I believe it could have been more "spectacular".

Smurfs is really good family entertainment movie. The movie start with the festival of Blue Moon which is about to begin and all the thing going smoothly for the smurfs. But suddenly Papa Smurf sees the vision of the future that is quite disturbing. and the movie start their real life as Clumsy Smurf inadvertently leads the evil wizard Gargamel to the smurfs' secret village.

“The Smurfs is a great family movie for sure”

★★★★☆

written by mystique1979 on 20/09/2011

When I heard that the Smurfs were coming to the big screen, I was completely and utterly pleased because I grew up watching the Smurfs on TV. I decided to take my 2 kids to the cinema, so they can see what mummy used to watch on TV when growing up, and my kids were really happy about the idea. The reason this film works, is that it never attempts to preach to the audience. There isn't any monologue about right and wrong. The Smurfs film is just pure fun. A good one and a half hours of constant action and jokes. The film gets going from the opening scene, never feels slow and most of the jokes aimed at the younger audience actually work. For other Smurfs fans like myself, you will be happy to know that a handful of the original voices appear in the film. Papa Smurf is voiced by Jonathan Winters, who did so in the animated series in the 1980s. Every character is likable. Even Gargamel is the perfect bad guy for a children’s movie.  He is as naive in the real world as the Smurfs are, which makes for lots of kid laughs. His tabby cat sidekick had us all laughing out loud. Best movie cat ever! The only problem with this movie was the 3D, which was very blurry and had no reason to be part of this film. The Smurfs is a fun film meant purely as a family entertainer, rightly aimed at the 7yr old + age group, but lots of older generations like myself, will get a kick out of seeing their childhood on the big screen.
