The Animation In This Film Is Incredible!
The animation in this film is incredible!
It's the story of a rookie car who is in the running to win the annual racing competition called "The Piston Cup". On the way to the tie-break race he gets lost, ends up in a small town and because he "chewed-up" the road he has to repair it before he can leave.
As time clicks on he starts to befriend the townsfolk - making best friends with Mater the tow truck and then falls in love with the female lawyer - a sky blue Porche 911.
He eventually goes to the race and has all his new friends cheering on.
The attention to detail in the animation is amazing - instead of vapour trails in the sky, there are tire tread trails !!! Instead of just normal flies there are mini VW beetles with wings.
So the story is engaging, the animation in fabulous, BUT the jokes I've seen in other films which go above the heads of the main audience and capture the parents, seem to be missing, but it's a minor point. My three-year-old will watch this again and again - I've seen it more times than I can remember and still amazed at some of it. We will probably watch it again this weekend. :-)
Well worth buying.

I Bought This Dvd For My Eight-year-old Son Thinki
I bought this DVD for my eight-year-old son thinking it was a film for kids. He put it into the DVD player and we all sat, rivetted to this film!
How Disney have come on since Snow White! I should say Disney Pixar. It is like you are watching real cars, with a personality of their own, with real and very beautiful scenery! These cars have expressions, emotions and feelings, each hase its own unique character. The film has an excellent storyline, one the whole family will love, even little girls. And as it involves car racing, dad will love it too! I enjoyed every bit of it, it is very funny, moving, a little sad in places, exciting and thought-provoking.
Also included in this DVD are a couple of extra short films, and an explanation of how the film came about, where the ideas came from. All this you must watch afterwards, it is very interesting, and you will see how well put together and researched this film was.
I will not spoil the film for you now by describing it in detail, you need to see it with open mind and you will be very pleasantly surprised what a great film this is. The title 'Cars', and the fact it is Disney Pixar, may give the impression this is just for little boys, you will soon realise it is suitable for all.
The story begins with a race, the rookie car, Lightening McQueen has only one goal in life, and that is to win! A tie between three cars means they have to race again, they have to get to California for this very important race. A series of events leaves McQueen forced to slow down and not live life in the fast lane for a while. He learns a lot from these gentle Hillbilly cars even though he was very reluctant to stay! Mater, a tow truck, befriends him, he falls in love with a Porsche named Sally and discovers Doc's secret past. You will be falling off your seat laughing then moved almost to tears towards the end, there is a very happy ending!
Well worth buying. Now my older sons are watching and they are in their twenties! Put this CARS DVD in your child's stocking for Christmas. I guarantee YOU will be watching with them! If you don't have a child, put it on your own Christmas list! You won't be disappointed!

When My Friends And I Decided To Go To Watch Cars,
When my friends and I decided to go to watch Cars, I wasn't really that excited. I thought that it would probably end up being boring, especially since I have no interest in cars, not to mention this is a children's film. What probably made it great for me was the variety of funny characters. The plot was nice and predictable, like any family film.
The animation was outstanding! Most of the characterizations are based on racial and economic stereotypes, but they wouldn't work without being that way. I don't think any Hispanics, African-Americans, Italians or red-necks will walk away feeling insulted!
I had no doubt about the quality of the animation, as it's Pixar. They have done toys in 'Toy Story' and 'Toy Story 2', 'A Bug's Life' and 'Finding Nemo', and one of my favourites - 'The Incredibles'. Rest assured, Cars won't leave you disappointed.
I came away from this movie feeling a bit underwhelmed - I just didn't enjoy it as much as Pixar's earlier work and for a children's film it is very long (I started to check my watch and that isn't a good sign in my eyes) - does anybody know what the subject of their next film is?

Cars Is A Very Simple, Yet Great Concept For A Fil
Cars is a very simple, yet great concept for a film. The idea of talking cars in their own little world would please any child, and yet the whole family can enjoy the film, which contains some rather funny and tense moments.
Overall, it is an enjoyable film for all ages to see.
