“Back to Nature”

Frandy Fishery, Glendevon , Dollar on the Gleneagles estate, Scotland is best described as a wonderful trip back to nature. Situated near the A9 at Auchterarder it is well signposted and has a fantastic scenic drive to its location in the glen. There is a sinle track well maintained road from the main road to its location. There is a comfortable fishing lodge with hot tea and coffee availale as well as cold refreshments. There is a selection of tackle available for purchase there. The staff are both friendly and inviting and are a wealth of information in to the fishing and best methods for the conditions on the day. There is good bank fishing allthough the terrain is rough in places, and the site is immaculatly clean. There are boats for hire which are well maintained and can also be hired with an outboard motor for a very reasonable price.Life jackets are also supplied. The fishery is a 250 acre reservoir and is 150 ft deep at its deepest point. it also has shallower areas and as such offers a very varied terrain for fishing. Predominatly rainbow trout however there is a stock of wild brown trout. I found the fishing there to be excellent and missed many takes before taking two of the hardest fighting rainbows that I have ever come accross. The fish were in superbe condition full finned and by the way they fought on steroids. Is was a pleasure to release them again. This alongside the fantastic setting and the abundance of natural wildlife made for one of the best days fishing I have ever had. If there is a downside it is that of disabled access with many areas because of terrain being unavailable. That said however the accessible areas more than made up for this with easy to fish points being available in the most prolific areas of the reservoir. Charges are from £12 catch and release to £50 for a three man boat and an eighteen fish limit. There are a number of options in between to suit individual needs. The golden test is would I fish there again? You bet I would and would make a special journy for the experience.
