Just Does Not Perform, And Contacting Mira A Nightmare
Have had three of these showers in the past 12 years. The first one was in the house when we bought it and lasted 6 years before failing - the motor made a high-pitched sound and flow was greatly reduced and cold. It turned out that the brushes were burned out. The next one lasted 6 years and failed with the same symptoms. We replaced it and the current one has been in 3 months and has failed with the same symptoms. We have contacted mira with a view to getting it repaired or replaced under the guarantee, but their questions seem to expect one to be a plumber to answer them, otherwise there could be a £75 callout charge.
I cannot recommend this shower to anyone, and I suggest a different company, given mira's cavalier approach to guarantee work.

Flexible Shower In The Palms Of Your Hands
I recently updated my bathroom and added this item to my shower. Makes a big difference when trying to clean all of your body.

Excellent Flow And Better Control That The Old Mod
Excellent flow and better control that the old model (which I had for 10years with never a problem) Maybe a little noisy but that's because it backs on to the airing cupboard.
Overall an excellent shower.

Altogether Disappointed; The Shower-experience Is
Altogether disappointed; the shower-experience is no longer exhilarating just OK. Wish we'd kept the 10-year old model which was working fine.

Mira Event Xs Manual Power - I Chose This Type Of
Mira Event XS Manual Power - I chose this type of shower because being a home DIY enthusiast, I wanted to install it myself. The all-in-one type of power shower such as this is much easier to install than a separate pump system - in my opinion if you want one of those then you'd better get the plumber in. I was impressed with the build quality of the unit and accessories when opening the box and the instructions supplied were relatively clear. However, I would have expected this of a shower that costs over £200. In terms of connections to the unit, I used speedfit pushfit plumbing (the manual seemed to even recommend this approach and the plumbing connectors to the unit were of the push-fit design). This was much easier for me than copper plumbing which I try to avoid where possible. Considering this is a low-pressure system running off the tanks then I think this is an ideal solution. In terms of the electrical connection, due to the fact that this unit operates at 150 watts on a 3 amp fuse, I took a switched RCD spur off the lighting circuit - perfectly acceptable for this sort of current. Once I installed it (took me the best part of a weekend) I couldn't wait to try it and I was not disappointed. The flow rate was brilliant and the different showerhead settings were great to play around with. The only slight (very slight) disappointment I had was that it was a touch louder than I had expected. Even though the unit came with rubber mountings to limit vibration noise, etc., it still sounded like I was in the shower with a food mixer (please don't try that at home!). Still a small price to pay for a great shower every morning. I don't really notice the noise anymore.
Regarding what Willielog says - they are not the same. The Mira XS has two control knobs but the Essentials version one. I have the older version of the Essentials model (bought 2001), and the single arrangement for control knobs continues to give me grief, even though it's been replaced once by Mira. It is very stiff to operate, and for no apparent reason. I wouldn't buy the B&Q version again.
An identical shower is available from B & Q under their own brand (Essentials). The only thing thats different is the outer cover. If you don't believe me look at showerdoc.co.uk and you will see assembly diagrams for both showers and they even have the same part numbers.
