The Bends Is Exactly What The Name Suggests - Star

The Bends is exactly what the name suggests - starting at the darkest depths of dispair and accending to true beauty; passing through everything in between, and leaving you dizzy at the top.

The Bends features true classics such as "High and Dry" and "Fake Plastic Trees", which even now stand their ground against every piece of music written since their birth into the world in 1995.

This album features some truly dark material, such as "Bullet Proof ... I Wish I Was" which, in my mind, is a very down kind of beauty.

The Japanese version of The Bends featured a track called "Killer Cars" which is fantastic - I don't know why this wasn't included on the UK and US releases.

Although not quite as good as OK Computer, The Bends is still a great album of the mid 90's and is well worth owning.

Radiohead, The Bends Is A Rock Album But The There

Radiohead, The Bends is a rock album but the there is a quality here that will never fade. Born in the throws of the human condition, this album like all the others by Radiohead become further testimony that modern rock has gone down the toilet. This is the album that flushed all the other bands down. Radiohead is the only band that has walked further into the dark woods when everyone else stayed in the cabin. The "weirdness" starts here. The brilliance starts here. Few times in life do rock bands appear that seem to change everything. The Beatles did it, Zeppelin did it, and now thirty years later Radiohead will do it. These three are the TRINITY of rock and roll. No-one else. The next album Radiohead puts out will, whether it be in '05. '06 or '07 or '08 or whenever, secure them as rock gods of the modern age. If you are not listening to them, you are leaving yourself out. It will be like on close encounters when all the little ships dissappear and the mother ship floats overbearing. Scientists will hear its music but will never be able to know what they are really hearing. Its gonna be a glorious day!
