Broke Within 2 Months. Warranty Is Worthless

The drum paddles snapped off after 2 months. I contacted Indesit about repair but they said plastic components weren't covered under warranty and if a service engineer came to visit and they deemed themselves not to be at fault I would be charged for the warranty call out.

I suggested that failure after 2 months under normal use was perhaps a design failing that they should be addressing but he wanted nothing to do with the fault other than to pass me over to their spares department to purchase new paddles.

Won't be buying Indesit again.

Can totally agree - since Indesit/ariston took Hotpoint over - they have closed all of teh factories and are now importing lower grade/deisgned products, even teh hotpoint brand is now no longer sold in the UK and is targeted in Europe where the brand has (quite rightly) a better value to the products it is written on (they are all Indesite and Ariston). Had thsi been an old hotpoint machine and this had happened, there was a no-question policy in force within 1 month of purchase - you would have had the repair done under warranty and the UK factory would have been charged for the repair. You must be careful with warranties as sometimes the retailer takes the risk - you imply that youhad a manufacturers warranty, but are you sure you were speaking to someone in Peterborough where the Indisit helpdesk is? Do not be fobbed off - Warranty is Warranty and you were well within your consumer rights to get the retailer to take the product back and return your money......

Yep it is a design fault. Actually there are several the worse one being the drum seam splits and it self destructs on SOME batches.

Paddles are either 10 hole or 12 hole from memory, buy off e-bay to replace, though don`t hold your breath on short to med success.

Suggest you have a go at them via Trading Standards.
